01 Nov Turning Heads Linkup:Mixing Fall Colors/Rust top-Faux Leather Midi Skirt- Burgundy Booties
Hello Friends!
If you are looking for more of my Santa Fe/Taos pictures and story, I am sharing it Thursday, with the My Refined Style Linkup, so please do stop by! It was hard to choose between over 600 photos! 🙂
Hope you had a fun Halloween Had a fun time last night giving the kiddies candy. We sat outside like our neighbors, as the parade of costumes came by. It was so funny! A young boy had a Steve-Martinesque large bloodied knife sticking out of his head, and I said, ” You must have a bad headache”, he said, “No, look it’s not real, it’s fake!” I was cracking up! Another boy had a gruesome mask with really bad teeth, and I asked if he should really eat candy, since he didn’t take care of his teeth! The dad laughed.( some kids got my humour 🙂 Saw some really good homemade costumes and was corrected when I said I liked the boy’s Samurai costume, when it was a Ninja. Well. 🙂 Ha!
Today I am sharing a look that combines many of my favorite fall shades, rust, chocolate-brown, and burgundy.I am co-hosting the link up on Walking in Memphis in High Heels, with Laura today as well I plan on mixing and experimenting with different combinations of colors this fall. When I wear this pleated midi skirt, I like to add a fitted top to the look for a more cohesive silhouette. I do enjoy dressing for fall as there are so many rich shades and great colors to pair, perhaps unexpectantly. I really also love faux leather and have a fair amount of it in my closet, as the styles today, so many of them are made quite well, that often you can’t tell the difference, between faux and real leather.
.I added the scarf as a bit of pattern, as leopard is always in style! My LV Speedy just adds another fun mix of pattern, even only in accessories. I know some ladies are not fans of the pleated skirt, but if you want to look taller or draw the eye upward, wear a monochromatic look.
This top is OTS, just kind of slid up when taking pictures, instead of a necklace here, I chose a scarf for more interest. I am wearing a different pair of funky glasses tan and cream marbled color along with a subtle cat eye, by Warby Parker. I have a collection of glasses, and if you are like me, and have to wear them to see, consider them a statement as well. I used to wear the no frame Silhouettes, but find that bolder frames stand out, and also emphasize my eyes more.
I have an affinity for patterned and colored tights. Love this mix of brown and burgundy. This pair of boots is one of my favorites, from Zara, last year.
Outfit Details: F21 top, Midi Skirt ( Ann Taylor, last yr, like this), Scarf, Charming Charlie, Boots: Zara last yr, like. , Louis Vuitton Speedy 35. Earrings: Etsy vintage.

Posted at 21:59h, 02 NovemberJess, the faux leather look is so classic. I just found a pencil skirt at a thrift store, but this pleated look is awesome. Love this color combo. Rich browns, burgundy and rust are perfect for fall. Love your boots! Such a great outfit. I love that you participate in handing out candy to the neighborhood kids. We usually take my Grandson around, but he was sick this year and we live on a busy street so don’t get trick or treaters. So sad! Ha, ha. Oh well, on to Thanksgiving! Thanks for sharing and hosting the link up! – Amy
