Turning Heads #Linkup- Plaid and Floral Mix with Mid Waisted Flared Denim Look 2

Hello Ladies!

I hope everyone is doing well. We had our first weekend here, where we didn’t feel like we spent hours in a sweat lodge! It was mid 70s and mid 80s, which is a bit cooler than it has been . I love to walk in the woods, pups in tow and just enjoy nature and quiet. We decided to go to King’s Mountain, about an hour’s drive, go for a short hike and have a picnic lunch.

As far as today’s outfit, I am sharing Denim Look #2, with the Mid waisted flared jeans, with a medium wash, super soft denim.  I have purchased dark denim clean flares, with no distressing,  just a dark rinse that I will share another time, a dressier style. I thought these were pretty cool, and I have always liked flares, just haven’t worn them much on the blog yet. It has been too hot to layer as of late, so I decided to wear this brown plaid  vest for added pattern interest, and my nod to Fall, even though it hasn’t hit here yet.! I mixed some floral and stripes in yesterday’s blog post HERE, so check that out when you get a chance.

When wearing Flares:

  1. Watch proportions: I often like more of a streamlined or fitted top, as to draw the eye to the flare. Make sure your top/blazer etc isn’t too long as it will cut of the length of the leg.
  2. Flares are fun for a 70s vibe, just make sure you don’t look like you are attending Woodstock. Less may be more!
  3.  A Heel is a better choice. Again, it comes to leg length. The shoe can peep out from the jeans , make sure it can be seen., I have a bit of a pet peeve when it comes to flares and the “dissapearing shoes”! Try a heel, wedge, or block heeled bootie.
  4. There are so many rinses out there. This is more of a casual rinse with the mid-blue wash, and raw hem. For a dressier look, try a solid, dark wash.

I  decided to go for a bit of a casual look, with this medium blue wash, a coral floral top, and plaid brown vest.  Mixing these patterns was fun for me, as I also love how a vest adds structure and shape to a look. Last, the texture comes into play with the peach colored Rebecca Minkoff quilted bag and my peach/brown snakeskin block heels , from ( you guessed it, ASOS). I shortened a peach floral necklace to add that trendy choker look.

The jeans are very comfortable,  soft, stretch with me, and would look great with a pair of block heeled booties ( Ive been looking. )

Outfit Details: Jeans Mossimo ( Target), Peach floral top: ( the limited), Vest ( the Limited) bracelet c/o Sylca Designs, watch c/o Jord, Rebecca Minkoff quilted bag, ASOS snakeprint block heels.

You really pull this look off. I have a pair of flairs I keep around to wear some of my favorite booties with in the fall. I agree about the heels. the flats can be saved for the straight legs. It’s you vest I particularly like-always enjoy a bit of menswear in women’s’ fashion.
