Turning Heads Linkup – Pink Gingham with White Denim

Morning Ladies!

It seems it was about time I got on the Gingham Bandwagon. I really do love the print, it was a matter of finding just the right style, cut and color for me. When I saw Kellyann and Jodie in their pink gingham tops, I was encouraged to look for some pink gingham myself! I do love the print- a girly, pink and white checked..a feminine take on a classic style. When I spotted this top on Last Call, I thought to myself, “That’s it!” a soft- blush pink with white gingham top with ruffles in a cold shoulder style.

Jazz at the Living Room

Before I get into talking about the clothes, I hope you had a great weekend. Hubby and i went out to “The Living Room”, an intimate venure in Charlotte, for performers. In this case, we saw a jazz singer sing Sarah Vaughan. Its a wonderful place, aptly named, as you feel the performer is singing/playing to you. I love Ella Fitzgerald, listen to her often, and Sarah Vaughn was her contemporary, also a lovely jazz voice. The singer last night came all the way from England and it was a great evening. I am one who has to move  when I listen to music I enjoy.. even though I am in my seat, I am keeping the beat with my feet, or moving my head.. i just can’t help it!  We will be attending more performances and concerts this summer.. I look forward to it! There are times when I feel like I was born in the wrong era.

On with the show.. about the outfit

One thing I had to laugh about with the cold shoulder, as i have this and the red poppies top, is that the “cold” portion seems just ready to display my medical patches! ugh. You can’t put them on your back or chest, as those spots tend to “glow” more, if you catch my drift! So, the arm it is , even though this top seems to accentuate that. ( i need to use that blur tool!)

Nevertheless, I thought of pairing this top with my white denim, my modern skinny jeans from Loft, that are a true bright white. They were a recent buy that I knew I wear often. I can see this top with denim shorts, I have a pair of chambray shorts Im looking to pair them with. And because of the volume of the top, I could also pair it with a white pencil skirt i have in my closet.

I knew i would be styling this look with my blush pink Andre Assous mules, they wen’t perfectly with the look. I just have to get used to walking in mules! The other piece de la resistance is my new straw circle bag I found on Poshmark. I initially wanted this bag from Anthropologie, but then went on the hunt for one similar for less. I found it, with its intricate center design, but less $$$. 🙂 It has just one space for your items, but I am fine with that. My wallet, a small brush and lipstick fits nicely in this bag… I just couldnt resist this trend!

Lovely outfit, pretty lady. I like that the color is not a typical blue or red. Love your circle bag! I haven’t gotten on that bandwagon yet, but that one is really cute. Thanks for hosting the link up! – Amy

Gingham is such a tricky thing. It can be picnic table material or it can be the quirkiest, coolest fabric ever. Your top, my friend, is STUNNING.

Sometimes we just need something a little simpler. I love that little bag. Fits the essentials, and not too much more so you aren’t worried about the weight on your shoulder, or digging endlessly to find what you need.

Jess, I love these colors on you and gingham is one of my favorite patterns for this time of year. When you started talking about the problem with cold shoulder, I thought you were going to share my complaint that my shoulders just get cold! So I had to chuckle that they showcase your medical patches. You should get patch covers for them that look like tattoo art! I know you have always wanted a tattoo but cannot get one due to your condition, so maybe this is an idea we should patent! Tattoo art patches to cover medical patches! I think I am on to something here…Fabulous look my friend!

Oh Jess, those frilly sleeves! Interesting to read that the jazz singer travelled from over here to perform, that’s a lotta miles for a gig. And I’m a foot tapper too! Hugs, x.
