Turning Heads Linkup- Spring Dress and New Sunglasses

Ann Taylor Spring dress

Hi friends

Continuing on with fashion posts as we keep on keepin’ on.  I am wearing an Ann Taylor dress I bought 2 years ago and hadn’t yet worn it on the blog. I am also sharing my new prescription Prada Sunglasses.

Home

As we all hunker down at home, I think about how important it is to do our part. My mom sent me The Sunday Paper by Maria Shriver, and I subscribed. She writes each week and continues to try and inspire and provide calm to her audience. You can check it out and subscribe if you like. Just something to start your day off in a positive manner.

I’ve been talking to my mom regularly, as she is by herself in our family home in Pittsburgh. I know it has to be hard to be by yourself, and those connections to the family are so important. All of my siblings call her daily to check-in. I try and bring a smile or make her laugh with my phone call, anything to raise her spirits.

We talked about all the ways this is affecting people and I suggested that she create a schedule. My mom is retired and usually a bit of a social butterflyly. Now, remaining at home, she is finding things to do around the house. She liked the suggestion of creating a schedule to focus and keep busy. I do that as well. I work on blog from 9-1. Take an Epsom salt bath, rest/watch tv, take a walk, make dinner, than read or play guitar. And some variation on this theme.

Outfit

I’ve been taking advantage a bit of the sale out there, as I needed to add a few things to the Spring closet. I bought some tops, a white denim skirt, and a few other things. I’ll buy less in the upcoming month.

Today I am wearing a dress from Ann Taylor that I bought 2 years ago and have yet to wear it on the blog, until today. I liked the green print with deer and bunnies and planned on wearing it for Easter. The style is fit and flare.l I’ve added a layered green necklace, and along with Easter lines, chose a white rattan bag instead of an Easter basket 🙂 The Betsey Johnson sandals are a light pink adding a pretty contrast against the green. I will wear this outfit  when things get back to ‘normal” , currently I am in loungewear.

Prescription Sunnies- Prada

I wanted prescription designer sunglasses last year but didn’t buy them then. I bought these a few months ago and was planning on wearing them on the first sunny day. We’ve had a lot of rain and grey here this year, so I was thrilled the sun family made an appearance this day!

I love the Prada Baroque style with the squiggly shanks.. you may know the style in which I am referring. These are called the PRADA EVOLUTION CINEMA style in a light tortoise. They are prescription and were a bit of a treat for me as I go down on my pain medication and have made strides.  I love the style!

To have some schedule will help immensely these days. It wants not to be challenging to create mine, as from next Wednesday, my son is home, and we will be doing homeschooling. This dress is so pretty, Jess. It reminds me of the beautiful jungle. Have a great day.

That is a beautiful dress! It really says Spring! A fabulous look on you Jess.

I feel you about your mom. My mom is alone too. I call her everyday. We live just 10 minutes away, and have made a habit of going to visit once per week. Both she and we are practicing stringent social distancing, and we do when we see her. I miss being able to hug her. She is an introvert, which helps, but she tends to be a busy person and it chafes her to not just be able to come and go as she wants.

    I hope you’re doing okay.

      Hi Michelle,
thank you for the lovely comment about my dress. I may just wear it on Easter.
Oh, sorry to hear about your mom too. I know calling has helped and there are 4 of us kids, so we all make an appoint to call and talk. I will today. It is tough, and I probably wouldnt do as well alone, but I am checking up on her. Thank you for your comment and best wishes to your mom too.

The colors in that dress just pop! It took me a bit to see the bunnies and deer! Lol! Yes, it’s perfect for Easter. Even Easter at home!! The bag and shoes and jewelry really complement the look, Jess. And I agree–we have to keep on keepin’ on and have some degree of normalcy in our routines. Stay healthy, my friend. Glad to hear about your decreased need for your medication. Something to celebrate!!

It’s a beautiful dress Jess! The print is different from what I have seen and I adore that it’s unique. I do enjoy that AT/LOFT has the cutest variations when in comes to cute floral pieces. That’s also awesome that you chat with your mom daily. I am sure she appreciates it. I do the same with my parents and Grandma. It keeps their mind off of things and they get very happy talking to the little guy too. I am smitten with your new sunnies. It looks really nice on you. Great choice! I hope your week is off to a great start and happy Tuesday!

I just love this dress on you, so beautiful! I’ve been thinking about getting my Spring dresses out soon, I need to switch my closet over. We’ve been having some nice 70 degree days! Makes it a little better to be shut in when the weather is nice for walking.

We have had a lot of sun lately and even though my cheap sunglasses have fallen a few times, they still are in one piece. I probably need to pick a new pair when this is over. We got my oldest some transition glasses and he is so thrilled about them. I am trying to learn what triggers my down moods lately so I can learn to be content with how life is right now. No use feeling down for the next month. We can’t change certain things but we can work on changing our mindset (and make muffins, lol!

What an interesting print you found, the length of the dress is perfect, too. I would like to get new eyeglass frames, I should probably consider new sunglasses, too. My thinking is since I pretty much just wear them in the car, it doesn’t matter if they’re old :/.

Cutest dress ever, Jess! Does it have dogs and bunnies in the print?! I can’t get over how adorable it is. And I love the shade of green. Fabulous new sunnies, too, my friend. I am glad that you are keeping your mom in good spirits. I imagine this is a difficult time for those who live alone. Hopefully this passes quickly but I suspect we have a long road ahead of us. Stay positive and take it all one day at a time.
