Turning Heads Linkup- Stand Out and Wear Red in the Winter

Women's Mango red wool coat

Red is one of my favorite colors. I know you saw the camel coat I bought and wore yesterday, I found this red double breasted wool coat on sale in August and had to bring it home.

Target women's red sweater dress

Red- The Color

Red according to the site- Empower yourself with color psychology-

“The color red is a warm and positive color associated with our most physical needs and our will to survive. It exudes a strong and powerful masculine energy.

Red is energizing. It excites the emotions and motivates us to take action.

It signifies a pioneering spirit and leadership qualities, promoting ambition and determination.

It is also strong-willed and can give confidence to those who are shy or lacking in will power.

Being the color of physical movement, the color red awakens our physical life force.”

With Valentine’s Day next month, we often think of red as being the color of love. But in actuality, pink is the color of love, red of lust and sexuality.

Hmm. When I styled this look, perhaps I was subconsciously thinking of the show, Bridgerton. There seems to be a fair amount of love and lust in that show!

The Outfit

I have always loved an all red monochromatic look when I have seen it on others. I wanted to do that here, but alas, no  red booties ( except my velvet ones which didn’t match in tone), I must remedy this with either a pair of red heels or a block heeled bootie.

In the meantime, I love adding leopard print to red. Such a wonderful mixture! I wore leopard with my Zara booties in a warm leopard print, and seconded the idea with my Express leopard clutch. I could have worn my Prada red bag, but decided the eye was happy with the mix of leopard.

T bought this red wool double breasted coat from Mango back in August, on sale, without the intention of buying a camel coat.  Although my intentions were good, I spotted the Mango camel coat on sale at Christmas and couldn’t pass it up .This rich red coat is light/medium weight, and the other, a lightweight, so both are great to wear here in NC in the Winter. This coat is no longer available on Mango, but I have some alternatives for you. This Ralph Lauren coat is sharp as well!  This is a single breasted coat by Anne Klein and the more A-line shape will work on  any figure.

I love the longer length of the coat, making it quite dressy no matter what I wear! Gym clothes, sweats, no problem! Wear a structured coat and you are all the wiser.

The thick red  Target sweater dress was a buy from last season that is one of my favorites. I have loved sweater dresses for years, the ease, the coziness factor.

That dress is gorgeous—I can’t believe you got it at Target! And yes, red is a pretty powerful color—I can only wear it when I’m in the mood to handle it 😉 PS I love Bridgerton so much, I don’t want it to end!

You have given me confidence to wear red. I have a lot of pink in my hair, and red can be a chalky. But if you can do it as a redhead, so can I

There truly is a psychological reaction to color. I loved the “pink is the color of love, red of lust and sexuality.” Must remember that!! Lol! I love the mix of reds in the coat and dress and leopard print is such a good choice for accessories! Loved the camel outfit yesterday, too. Both are so classic and elegant. Have a wonderful week!

Love your idea of wearing red coat in winter, Jess, especially on a bleak grey day. Wearing a red dress underneath is a good choice, you did the right thing by breaking a solid colour of animal print pattern. Fabulous look

Hope that your week is off to a good start! The 3 day Brisbane lockdown was lifted last night as hoped for so that was nice! We just have to wear masks for the next 10 days to make sure there aren’t any more than 2 cases outside of hotel quarantine.
