Turning Heads Linkup – Tweed and Suede

Its been one heck of a couple of weeks. It has rained here in Charlotte, for 9 days in a row. Our puddles have puddles. In the front yard, it looks as if we have a pond, and I can hear the frogs croaking at night. You get it!? So, among all of the rain and flooding, it makes it difficult to take blog photos. We made it happen one morning when the rain ceased for a bit.

I said to my husband, I heard there was a phenomenon that causes heat and is emitted from the sky. Have you heard of it?? I just can’t help but be sarcastic sometimes, as it has been a while since we have seen the sun here in Huntersville. Or at least it feels that way! The calendar may say March, so there may be hope!

Spring Outfits on the Horizon

I am looking forward to revamping my Spring wardrobe, as even with living in NC, I have more of a Fall-Winter wardrobe, that I have built over the years. The colors from this year’s Pantone Color Institute has me scanning my favorite websites for the upcoming season.

Soon, as the weather warms up a bit, I will be sharing some transitional Spring outfits, because we all want that to look forward to!  In the meantime, yesterday’s post where 7 of us bloggers wore green, was more of a transitional Spring look, if that is what you’re craving.

My Outfit Today

Today, however, we are still in Winter Mode, and I haven’t styled this tweed aline skirt from Ann Taylor in some time, so I knew I wanted to combine tweed and suede in a look this week. From my moto jacket collection, this BLANKNYC rich burgundy jacket has been a great staple in my Fall-Winter wardrobe. If I were to think of one item to add, a moto jacket is one of those staples.

Making another appearance are my OTK boots from Franco Sarto. ( These were on sale on 6 pm). I added a bold burgundy statement necklace and earrings that were gifted to me years ago from Sylca Design. My favorite textured black clutch finished the look.

On The Weekend

We took the doggies the one nice day we had here recently and went to a Marty Gras Festival at Raylen Vineyards. Had a great time eating gumbo, king cake and drinking their newest Bourbon barreled red wine. The pups were so very good and we enjoyed visiting nearly all of the pups that came that day. Little Charlie, a tiny, rescued chihuahua, had a special fondness for Gibby! 🙂

I began my ifit workout on my new treadmill. Its fun that I can experience other parts of the world, with different trainers, while keeping track of my fitness goals.

Tell me about it! It’s been raining in my neck of the woods too. It hasn’t been like this in years past so it’s challenging to get used to it. I love this entire outfit. The burgundy color is so pretty and just lights up the mood. I am swooning over your tweed skirt and how gorgeous it is. I hope your week is going well and happy Wednesday!

Jess, I totally get what you mean when you say in between rain showers. We’ve had rolling storms for almost 6 weeks and we have to catch the days in between for photos. And like you say, it’s very hard on our two dogs–especially my little old man Cairn Terrier! Oh well, soon enough we’ll be complaining about the heat, right? Haha!

Love your outfit–especially the tweed skirt!

I don’t have any tweed pieces in my closet, but would love to add one or two. This tweed skirt is so pretty! It is still winter here too, so I can’t even begin to think styling anything for the Spring yet! 🙁 I love all of the warm colors in this outfit and that gorgeous statement necklace.

Oh Jess, you know I love it when you mix textures and the suede and tweed are no exception. I love the color combination of this outfit too. Y’all are really having the rain. They even closed the schools in Nashville for a few days because of it. We’ve been having a lot as well and I am ready for the S-U-N!!! I think my elliptical has that ifit technology, but I’m too cheap to use it. LOL. Glad you’re enjoying yours. Happy Tuesday! XO

Same here! It hasn’t stopped raining and now we are on a flood watch because there are mudslides all around us and roads closed everywhere. I had to take a day off of work just to shoot a bunch of looks because it was the only sunny day we had coming up! The things we do as Bloggers 🙂 I love this motto jacket, the color looks so good on you!!

That’s a gorgeous outfit, I love the jacket, it looks very pretty. The weather has been sunny and warm but this week it took a turn and it’s now rainy and cold… I don’t mind too much about the rain but one thing I really hate is the wind.

Seeing your winter clothes makes me wish we’d have at least a few more cool days so I can wear layers. It was so hot over the weekend I almost jumped in the pool!
