30 Oct Velvet Blazer -Silk Blouse and Jeans
Hello friends,
I hope you all had a happy weekend. It is finally getting chilly here in Charlotte, and I love it! I do enjoy the sun, as it has a positive effect on my mood, but there is nothing like the Fall chill in the air for sleeping too. I won’t delve into this topic too much, but having or nearing menopause, I am nearly almost always hot, or warm. So, i love being cold at night and getting cozy under the covers. It just makes for better sleep. On a fashion note, I am talking about the trend for Fall-Velvet. I have quite a few velvet pieces in my wardrobe, and this is the styling of one piece and a sample from last year.
Speaking of soft and cozy materials, velvet has always been one of my favorites to wear. I find it always looks a bit luxurious, even at different price points. I remember having a pair of velvet black pants in my twenties that were a favorite.
Velvet is everywhere right now- shoes, boots, booties, dresses, handbags. I just bought these velvet earrings from Zara a few weeks ago. I loved the colors. It is a material i used to think of as wearing just on special occasions or Holidays such as Christmas, but that has changed.
I decided this year I would add more quality pieces to my closet in the form of silk blouses and cashmere. This top is labeled Haute Hippie, a designer brand in which i recently became familiar. I was looking on Poshmark ( read about this on-line thrift shop HERE) and was looking for silk blouses. I adored the colors in this flouncy floral romantic blouse. I paired this colorful blouse with a rich velvet burgundy blazer I bought also at Poshmark several years ago. The textured pointed boots are from Zara last year.
Here are a few looks from my style look book.. aka the blog, showing my love for a great velvet blazer and velvet dress.

Posted at 20:52h, 30 OctoberThank you Suzanne! I fell in love with the print and colors in this blouse. poshmark has been good to me lately! I really have bought more sweater dresses and blouses from their recently as you can get good deals. I dont do well with my condition standing for long periods, so this makes thrifting easier for me. i put up things for sale, but it really is a buyers maket! I am also a velvet hoarder! hehe. have always loved it. have a great week! xx

Posted at 13:51h, 30 OctoberGreat looks! You look so pretty and autumnal! Love love love velvet; always so rich and sumptuous looking. I’ve had a simple midnight blue straight scoopneck dress for years that I found at a consignment shop for $10 and like to add different scarves or tights with that. Bought a pair of high heeled blue velvet boots late last winter that I love the look of, but ugh…so hard to walk in, so those are probably heading to Poshmark!

Posted at 20:49h, 30 OctoberThank you Kristin! Fall is my fav time of year for dressing, love the colors, the textures, the layering. I have always worn velvet and love it. oh, your dress sounds lovely! There are velvet booties out there in blue that you could get with a small block heel that would be easier to walk in. Shoes arent always easy! xx
