Watercolors and a Night at the Symphony

I called it the watercolor dress, as the yellow and white flowers with punches of light blue, pale pink and grey mix together like a water painting.  I don’t shop at H & M much, as I have to try everything on there, and it isn’t as convienent. Now and then I find something there that catches my eye and it was this sundress. I thought, great, I can wear it when it is 90 degrees as is, or when there might be a chill in the air, or going to a restaurant, put a cardigan over it. The pale pink cardigan was just right for the dress, as little bits of pink looked like it was painted on the flowers.

This is not the Symphony where men dress in suits, and women formal attire. This is the sit-on-the-blanket-and -have a picnic-kind of Symphony. The evening was a lovely night, although the darkness in the sky, worried us that the concert may be cancelled. We took our chance and drove down there. We first stopped at Earth Fare, as I bought some gluten free molasses cookies, some pasta with gouda, olives and vegetable salad, a bottle of Pinot Grigio, and my hummus and veggie wrap. We brought our blanket, our winestix, which are metal holders for our wine glasses that stick in the grass, and sat under the stars as we got to enjoy an amazing night of wine of my favorite Charlotte Symphony Pop Concerts: preformed in a huge ampitheratre in the park: The Broadway Night. Here was the concert line up, we enjoyed it so much, and the singer, was absolutely amazing! She had been Cossette in Les Mis on Broadway and sang her part 1800 times!! One of my all time favorites was first up with her singing: I Dreamed a Dream…

I am the same way with H & M, wished they offered store returns for their online shipping which would make shopping so much easier. I just refuse to pay for shipping returns. What a great dress and that Loft cardigan is perfect with it!

The dress is lovely, Jess and it goes so well with your little cardigan. You still have these high temperatures? We could do with some extra degrees here, it has been sunny but chilly, not the weather for light summer dresses.

Your concert sounds fantastic. Wonderful music in a lovely atmosphere.

Jess I think its a prefect dress and I love the cardigan with it. We have quite a similar open air kind of concerts in summer where you put up candelabras, champagne glasses etc and we love it. PS. I would love you with your hair up in a donut, thanks for stopping by my blog. Appreciate it. Have a great day. Sabina @Oceanblue Style

I LOVE Dvorak….New World Symphony is always on my iTunes. LOVE the dress, and I agree about H&M. I go in often, but have to have a lot of time because I have to try everything on. I have given up on their trousers….if you’re tall (and it looks like you are) they are a non-starter.

Yes! I love Dvorak as well. They played another section of the New World, I love the main theme, as my fav part, it was excellent . Thank you about the dress. Yes, I am 5 foot 9, so trousers wont work huh> Thanks, good to know 🙂 jess xx

Aww so sweet of you to say. I love any dress that feels like a nightgown!! So comfortable. I liked the strokes of pink and blue in there so I thought the feminie cardi would work. Yes we have a great Symphony and it is alot of fun to just be outside and listen to great music jess xx

That cardi is uh-mazing! I love structural details and I love even more that the color brings out the same in the dress. Just an overall visible outfit, eh? Thanks for visiting my neck of the woods. I love meeting new people! 😀

NO problem! Me too . I know i have kept some things after thinking about them or a comment. I appreciate the lvely words . My cardi is about 5 yrs old from Ann Taylor Loft and that is what attracted me to it, the color and the tactile. I have it in teal for fall.

There’s something about a redhead wearing that pale shade of pink that’s just magical! I love the fact that you paired with a more “serious” print and the whole look is very “grown-up pretty”.
I have never been able to find anything at H&M . I can only wear their Plus sizes and the store at Opry Mills only carries 5 or 6 items that qualify. I do much better at Forever21.

I haven’t been much at Forever 21, but see people that do find items. I can’t walk around alot and look. That is probably why I don’t shop at HM much, as one does have to try on everything there, as the sizing isn’t consistant.
Thanks so much for the comment, lovely of you to say. I do love the blush or pale pink!
