Turning Heads Linkup- Wearing High-Rise Jeans from Mott & Bow

Winter is the time for me to try out new jeans and I was thrilled to do so when Mott & Bow sent me these High-Rise skinnies to try.

Along with them. I was gifted this rich oxblood cashmere crew neck sweater to style as well

Mott & Bow

If you recall, I had collaborated with Mott & Bow before, trying their medium dark wash Jane jeans. Most of the jeans in my wardrobe are a darker wash, as I do like the dressiness factor when wearing jeans. `I also think dark jeans are great for Fall/Winter, and I reserve some of my lighter washes for Spring.

This time, when contacted, I chose the Jane in a med/dark wash and wanted to try a high rise jean. I have a small waist, so the idea of the higher rise appealed to me.

Fabric

  • Fabric Weight: Heavier Medium; 12.8 oz
  • Fabric Composition: 44% Cotton; 42% Tencel; 13% Polyester; 1% Elastane

It is considered a power stretch with some compression, but the tencel makes it nice and soft.

Sizing

I wore my normal size 27 in these high rise jeans. I loved that they keep their shape after wearing and mold to your body.  They are a skinny jean and they do fit slim to the leg. This pair runs true to size and there is some room in the waist, but I do find that with Mott & Bow jeans.

This was the first time I wore high rise jeans ( except for back in the 90’s) and since I have a smaller waist, I o like them. They hit around my belly button around the small part of the waist. So, these won’t be the last pair of high rise denim I try!

Mott & Bow has sizes from 24-40 in various styles.

Styling the Basics

The Mott & Bow jeans were right up my alley. A slim cut, dark wash and soft. The Jane jean is one of their best-sellers and I can see why. I have another pair in a medium rise jean. Since the rise is high and hits at a higher point on the body, a moto jacket or cropped jacket works well as a popular sillouette. If you are interested in high rise denim, I will be doing a post later on how to style this cut of denim.

I am wearing one of my favorite BLANKNYC moto jackets in burgundy suede, paired with the monochrome look of the cashmere crew sweater Mott & Bow sent me. Cashmere is such a wonderful fabric and this sweater is a great basic to have in your wardrobe. I love the rich  Oxblood shade, and just how warm it keep me, without it over heating you. They sell the crewneck cashmere  sweater n multiple colors and stripes. I have one of their cashmere sweaters in XS which fit great, and got this in a S just for length and for some roominess. Its so soft!

From the website-

  • The Cambridge is the perfect mid-weight year round sweater knit from the highest quality grade. A cashmere yarn from Inner Mongolia. This superior quality has the softest touch, and provides pill resistance

Happenings

No plans of course due to Covid, but my mom will soon be getting her vaccine shot beginning of Feb/end of. I have to find out if I can get my earlier due to my pre-existing condition. Wrote about keeping physically and mentally active during Covid, and some of the things I have been doing. I use my treadmill and home gym, been taking walks on the greenway outside, have been reading, The Great Alone, by Kristen Hannah, and I am also taking a drawing course. I have my supplies and am learning to draw dogs. ( of course) . I think we are all getting a bit restless.

I have been doing more cooking since my mom has been here, and yesterday made a Portobello Mushroom stuffed with artichokes, spinach, onions and cheese. See the recipe here.

I was wondering how your health is faring. Seems like you are feeling better? The skinny jeans are fabulous on you btw! P.S. Though I already have a “granola” bent about me, I’ve committed to relearn my whys, the science etc starting with a book by Dr. Livingood, Livin Good Daily. It’s very eye opening so far!

Very stylish! I prefer dark jeans. If my jeans are light, I want it to be because I’ve put the wear in them myself. LOL! The burgundy moto jacket is a lovely shade.

    Jess,
You are truly blessed with great legs for skinny high rise jeans!
I have a hard time getting high rise jeans to fit me right in the waist.
I just love both of your moto jackets!

What a surprise to see me featured this week!
    Thank you my friend!

I love Kristen Hannah as an author. She has SO many good books! That is so sweet of you to cook while your mom is there. I am hoping both my parents get the vaccine soon as they are in the tier they just moved to this week. My husband gets his second vaccine today and I hope he won’t feel too bad after. The first one gave him some symptoms, but he was better by the next day. I love this wine color on you and those skinny jeans hug you in all the right places!

I never was into high rise pants until recently. They’re so flattering, and comfy. I really like the look with heels! I haven’t tried that yet, but now might just need to.

You look just beautiful in oxblood – I think I should have gotten a suede moto jacket rather than faux leather (which is basically plastic!!). That scarf looks terrific too. Those pumps have the block heel I just love – so comfortable and classic. The drawing class sounds great for you – so happy you are doing it!

Fabulous looks with these cool jeans, my friend. I love this oxblood color on you. It is so rich and elegant. And that moto jacket is just gorgeous! We are all definitely getting restless these days. I have started painting the whole inside of my house…one room at a time! It is quite the project but it’s not like I can go anywhere to do things!
