27 Mar Another time and place
I have to admit, lace and fur just make me feel glamorous. Add in just a touch of a pearl brooch, some antique jewelry, and a pair of brown brogues, and I feel as though I have stepped back in time I think I could have lived in another era. I like the 20’s for the clothes, the music{ swing, big band, and jazz are my favorite kind of music, as anyone will tell you, I probably don’t go a day without listening to Ella Fitzgerald, Benny Goodman, Cab Calloway and others As far as my husband, I don’t think I could get him into a zoot suit!! ( hard enough getting him to wear a suit, period!) Before our wedding we took a dance class, and learned the waltz, polka, swing, and others, but my favorite was swing dancing. I miss being able to do that, but admittedly do pick up my puppy and dance around the room sometimes, as he is a willing partner.
. Although today was a nice day, it was a little chilly and this cardigan is not heavy, just enough to stop the chill. I get some smiles from the bikers passing by,( or was it strange looks) I just tell myself, ” it’s what we do for fashion.” I added a merlot colored Treesje bag which I love for its braided handles and girly frills, sometimes it is the details that make the outfit. The bun, as mentioned, was a great invention for women who want to look put together when they may not feel like doing their hair, or perhaps, you want the look of an up-do.. So easy, I added a touch of flair by this 20’s inspired black beaded headband. Great Gatsby! My lace skirt I have had for years, I just love this combo together.
Sweater: Loft or similar( Banana Republic), Skirt old Loft ( similar ), 1928 jewerly, brooch ( Etsy, similar), shoes: Born Boylenn Wing tips

Posted at 12:01h, 29 MarchThank you Annette. I guess my style is part romantic, part vintage, part classic. Hard to put labels. Yes, I thought this look may look good with a bun/dressed up look. You like my hair up? I experiment with it at times, but it won’t get cut shorter, so this is a good alternative for the summer.

Posted at 21:43h, 28 MarchI love everything about this look! I recently thrifted a brand new with tags(Dillard’s…$48.00) black cardigan with feathers around the neck for only $5.00! It makes quite a statement to say the least! You look great!

Posted at 23:15h, 28 MarchThank you . I think if I did more than on line shopping, from what I hear, thrifting seems to be it! I have heard of some amazing deals, and your sounds like one. I wish I knew of those shops here in Charlotte. I just can’t stand on my feet too long. I appreciate the comment.

Posted at 20:29h, 28 MarchJess, I love the details of everything you are wearing! The lace trimmed skirt most of all. I love the hairstyle, anbd have to admit this pretty simple “do” is a bit beyond me. 🙁
You look so elegant, from another time, but still modern . So pretty with your hair up, and i adore the shoes!

Posted at 23:21h, 28 MarchThanks Elle. I love lace skirts, have quite a few in my closet, but I loved the taupe lace against the grey fabric. You could “do” the do, it isn;t hard at all. I could of added a how to, but it is one of those sock buns or circular buns you buy, and it is a matter of putting the hair in a ponytail, putting the bun on and spreading the hair over the bun, and then putting another hair band around the bun. Check out youtube if you are interested in how to . Thanks so much for the comments. The shoes are so comfy and I love brogues.

Posted at 11:38h, 27 MarchThank you Monika . I don’t always wear my hair up, but in the summer here in Charlotte, North Carolina, it will get quite hot and I will dress up the bun with hair jewerly or headbands. I appreciate the comment. Yes weird weather here, I think next week may be normal spring temps.
Have a great weekend as well.

Posted at 10:52h, 27 MarchHi Jess,
what a pretty look, love your cardigan and your hairstyle with the hairband( don’t know if the translation is correct, sorry) and of course the bag. We had sunny days yesterday and today, but low temperatures and chilling wind. But it will get warmer for the weekend, hopefully.
Best wishes and have a nice weekend,
Monika
