Have you heard of BarbieCore? Bright pink or hot pink is trending for 2022
The Barbie Core Trend
You have heard of Cottage-core, kind of a “Little House on the Prairie” vibe that was big last several years. I know you have heard of “Coastal Grandmother”, as easy and free flowing beach looks was made popular. Well, now there is “BarbieCore” a more is more attitude, along with a love of pink especially hot pink Ultra-feminine looks that evokes images of our childhood doll.
Bright pink, bubble gum pink, hot pink, just a love of pink is what this trend is about. Did you know there was even a “barbie type filter” on IG. No wonder young girls can find it hard to live up to a certain aesthetic.
At least now, Barbie, now comes in various body types, skin colors and physical abilities, rmore epresentative of our society and culture.
In part, I think it was made popular or at least brought to our attention as a film with Ryan Gosling and Margo Robbie as Ken and Barbie.
Barbie was about a dream house, a fancy car, and her ever perfectly coifed Ken.
Valentino and Pink
Valentino’s runways show this summer was also a catalyst this summer, as his creative director showed monochromatic looks in the “Barbie Pink” a bold pink sure to make one feel vibrant and certainly is a type of dopamine dressing. I do believe people are looking for those brighter colors after 2 years of Covid and most likely living g in sweats, or dark colored loungewear. These bright colors that have been trending, along with the hot bright or neon pink, can’t help to lift your spirits.
From Yahoo News, “the hue belongs to Pierpaolo Piccioli, as far as fashion’s concerned. Valentino’s creative director dedicated his entire fall 2022 collection to hot pink, which was developed in collaboration with Pantone.”
The color Rose Violet, is a hot pink vibrant shade that is one of the Pantone’s Institute colors for Fall 2022, so get used to seeing this shade pop up in retail stores.
If you missed it, I wrote about the Pantone Colors for Fall 2022-3 in THIS POST. Have a read!

So, you say you’re not into wearing hot pink head to toe, or you can’t see yourself in a hot pink bodysuit, but you want to incorporate this trend?
Accessories are the key!
Try a fun handbag, wear a hot pink scarf with your all-black attire, or something as simple as a lipstick. Barbie really was about “more is more”, but ir you find a trend that you like, but want to do it more subtly, go for it.
Here are some posts where I wore the hot pink color, just not head to toe. I tend to go for more blush pink type shades, but I do like these pieces.
In Other News
I have an appointment at the Physical Therapy Center starting this morning- two times a week for Pelvic Floor Pt. It involves loosening the PF muscles, so the PT has to have extra certification and expertise in this area. I have been looking forward to starting as then I feel I am being proactive. Hubby was gone for a week, taking care of his parents in PA, so it was me and Gibson for the week. I bet even he is dying of boredom! Not only is there pain, but he took the car, so it was a long week! Nevertheless, I got my cushion and am able to sit a bit with it. The woman who started the business has PN, so she gets it. My September is filled with pelvic floor PT appts and other doc appointments.
So, what do you think of Barbie Core? Are you already to bring out the hot pink or neon pinks? Or is this one trend you are going to pass on?
I am sharing some affiliate links below that would be part of the Barbiecore aesthetic.

Posted at 10:24h, 22 SeptemberWow – I had no idea! I can’t say that I will run out to buy some pink items for my closet (I only have one solid shirt), but very interesting to see and read about. I will dig around a little more – would love to see what others do with this trend, if it’s anything like Coastal Grandmother has been.

Posted at 13:54h, 18 SeptemberUnlike Barbie we can dress fashionable with a pop of color rather than all pink and that is more appealing to me. Wonderful suggestions with all your accessories 💗

Posted at 11:35h, 15 SeptemberI have heard of Barbiecore but had not drilled down into it. It is interesting! I don’t have any of this pink in my closet. I think partly is I haven’t seen it in the stores much. I bet that will change with that movie now. Great post!
Peace!

Posted at 19:46h, 12 SeptemberI’m glad you have a plan Jess. Our health is such a huge factor and when we feel good we take it for granted.
As for the Barbicore, I’m here for it. Give me all the bright colors.

Posted at 13:49h, 12 SeptemberOh no! This is one trend I’m absolutely skipping. In some ways it might work, but definitely not for me. Love your outfits though romantic without beating you over the head with it. Gorgeous.

Posted at 10:53h, 12 SeptemberSo glad you are starting PT! As for Barbie-core, bright pink is the only shade that looks good on me, so I’m already wearing it. But I doubt you’ll see me in it from head to toe. Pink is a great color on you. Fun post, Jess!
