15 Feb How to Style High Rise Denim
There are so many different cuts and styles of jeans out there, I’ve written some tips on how to style high rise jeans if they are peaking your interest.
With all of the jeans styles out there, how do you know which to choose?
I have mid -rise jeans, skinny jeans, recently bought some boyfriend jeans and also received this pair of high-waisted denim jeans from Mott & Bow, a basics company in NY.
Styling HIgh- Rise Denim
I have a longer torso, so the high-rise jean will work for me, coming up to my belly button.
Here are some tips-
- Wear a jacket that slightly above the hip. Moto jackets, jean jackets and blazers will look great with this style.
- Worried about “muffin top”? Remember the low -rise jeans that caused this dilemma? High rise jeans are more flattering to the figure, as they are pulled up covering the waist and hips.
- Tuck your tops in. A “half tuck” or neatly tucked is a great way to show your waistline and make the proportions work well for you with high rise denim
- A trend or style that works with a high rise jean is to look for a bodysuit, . No need to tuck in and it provides a smooth sillouette that looks great with a high rise jean.
- Wear a heel giving you the look of longer legs!
My Outfit
My green sweater was bought secondhand on Poshmark. You have to be “in the mood” to look there, but it is a thrift shopping paradise, if you filter it out to what exactly you are looking for.
The jeans were gifted to me by Mott & Bow, and you can read about the company and jeans ON THIS POST.
I received the gold snakeskin booties from Soft Surroundings and love the neutral tone and gold booties. My Zara tapastry adds a bit of floral print to this look as well.
If you missed my post, I talked a bit about “Pandemic Uniforms” last week. I shared what I am wearing at home, and today, this is another one of those “uniforms” I reach for.- jeans- sweater- booties combo. ( although at home, it is either slippers or slipper socks!)
Some of my high waisted jean picks-
AG Farrah high waisted skinny jeans. I love AG jeans and have several pairs. They are soft and very well made.
KUT from the Cloth– Diana FAB AB skinny jeans. Great wash and they come in Petite and Regular.
Madewell Button Front High Rise. I would love to try this brand. They currently don’t have my size, but many sizes are left.
Madewell 10 inch high rise jeans– high rise jeans in Petite, Regular and Plus.
Wit and Wisdom High Waist, Ab solution Skinny Crop-
I have several cuts of Wit and Wisdom and do love the jeans. They are a great price point at $48! They have a vintage wash and built in ab-solution to slim, shape and lift.
This is just a sampling of jeans I like in the high waisted style.
Mott & Bow, the company I collaborated with several times, also has some excellent washes and high rise styles.
The one I am wearing is the JANE in a med/dark blue wash. They are soft with stretch and are made quite well, like a premium denim
Valentine Day Fun
My mom is with us, as you know and she will be getting the vaccine at the end of Feb. Since she was here for V-Day, I gave my gifts of chocolate and cards in the morning. If you haven’t discovered Love Pop, you need to check them out. I am a card person.
We decided since we couldn’t go to the vineyards this year, we would recreate the wine and chocolate pairings at home. Hubby and I bought Kilwin’s Chocolate Truffles in various kinds, to be paired with 3 different red wines we have not yet tried! It was a fun evening and the winner of the night was a tie between the Napa Cabernet Sauvignon and a Cabernet Franc. So delicious and smooth with a long finish, perfect!
Have you tried High- Rise jeans? Do they work well on your body type or do you prefer a different cut?

Posted at 06:10h, 22 FebruaryBeautiful green sweater, Jess! As much as I sell on Poshmark, I don’t buy much on there unless I am looking for something super specific so I can filter my search. I feel like there is just too much on there for browsing without purpose! I do love high waisted jeans and the styling tips you shared are great. You look fantastic, my friend. And it sounds like you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day celebration at home. Thanks for linking with me!

Posted at 09:55h, 16 FebruarySince I put on some weight, high waisted pants have become my favorite thing. They are much more flattering, and honestly, more comfortable too. My favorite are from Old Navy.
