Hello Friends,
How was your weekend? Ours was pretty low key, just doing some things around the house, hanging my dad’s photography and trying to keep up with and get a jump on “spring cleaning”! Sundays I go to the gym and I having just got the “go ahead” to lift weights, seems that I went a bit too “gung ho” the last few times. I truly don’t notice it at the time.. but 2 days later my shoulders are telling me to “cut it out!” Well, I live and learn.I thought it was about time I wore some vibrant red and brought out this cute red cardigan from Banana Republic. I purchased this through Poshmark, which is kind of an on-line thrift store that sells gently used or new items from individuals. (I will be publishing a post on How to shop there soon!) For me, details are important in my clothes and I loved the little chiffon roses and beaded detailing on this sweater. I thought of all of the textures and fabrics I love to wear in the winter, I knew it was time to break out the tweed! I have many tweed items in my closet from blazers to skirts and this black and white tweed flounce skirt has served me well through the years. I decided to pair it with this look and wear a bowed silk white blouse underneath for additional style. My black military jacket , boiled wool with intricate silver buttons, is great for layering as it is not lined and provides just a bit more warmth and style.
My croc textured block heels from Zara are worn here with grey patterned tights to again, play with texture as I love to do. This is more of a casual look for Valentine’s day, and frankly that is pretty much our day. We really don’t celebrate Valentines day other than a giving a lovely card and enjoying some excellent wine and dinner at home.

HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

February 6, 2017 at 10:03 amI love that you went with shoes with this outfit instead of boots, Jess!!
I feel like I get into a rut in the winter months and forget about my regular shoes!! Although we did have a heat wave this weekend, and I did bare my legs—LOL!!
I know I’ve said it before, but your mixing of textures is superb!! The eyelet blouse, the flowers on the sweater, the tweed and then lace tights!! It works so perfectly in your hands!

February 6, 2017 at 10:07 amThank you Jodie, I think that is one reason I enjoy dressing in the winter. Yes, shoes! I know what you mean, you instinctively reach for the boots! Sounds like a nice weekend, ours was a bit chilly!

February 6, 2017 at 8:13 amI love this look on you. It is so feminine and pretty, but the tweed skirt keeps it from being too over the top. I love the detailing on your sweater! The white blouse and bag add the perfect amount of brightness to the outfit. You look lovely! – Amy
