Out of My Comfort Zone

IMG_4738

No, I am not in combat, did not just sign up for the military, and am not inhabited by another being that is not “Jess”. I have  looked through so many blogs, and having seen so many of you in combat jeans/pants, I decided to step out of my comfort zone of dresses and skirts and buy a pair. In a sense I am in combat, trying to “combat bad fashion”.

There will be no further steps I take, I will not shave my head, start doing 100 pushups in the middle of the night, or wake up at the crack of down to fix the corner of my sheets or polish my boots. This is it!  Truthfully, I don’t wear pants often as I have a sensitivity in my legs from my illness, that usually they are not as comfortable on me as skirts and dresses are. SO, I decided I would buy one size up from my normal size, wear them baggier, like a Boyfriend camo pant. As, I was walking to take this photo shoot, I did realize something. Generally if one goes up a size, one needs a belt. So I was holding them as I walked down the street, but a belt is an easy solution.

I did like these on everyone I saw, so I took the leap. I decided to get them because they are stretchy and soft, and just plain cool!

I wanted to pair the pants and boots with a more feminine top or sweater as to off set the camo style. I decided to pair it with a blue chiffon rose cardi for more of a mix with a feminine touch to contrast with the pants. Hope you like it!

Camo pants: Target, Sweater Loft ( Ebay, similar) Boots: Target, Bag:Hayden Harnett NYC, Earrings: Etsy.

Have a great weekend my friends!

Jess xo

These camo pants look terrific on you! The boots compliment them wonderfully and I like the more feminine top. I’ve only tired camo shorts (which I like!) and a pair of flats that I just picked up. Might have to add a pair of pants, too!

Yes, I am sure they would look great. I like a more fitted style on other people, but this is the best I can do. Jess xx

This outfit would be out of my comfort zone also, but that is the beauty of fashion. I still need some camo pants. Love the soft and feminine cardigan. Great balance between both pieces.

I feel the same way about Camo. I’ve seen a similar style on a lot of blogs and I think they look great, but I haven’t purchased a pair for myself because I am not sure they are my style. However, I think you look great in these! It’s always fun to experiment and try something new.

True Katie! It can be fun, we all get comfortable with what we like for sure, and i think it is what gives us our own style. But perhaps trying new things would redefine that style too Have a great weekend, jess xx

I really like the combat pants, Jess. Particularly when softened by the pretty sweater. Ah…belts…now there is a necessity some days. If I don’t wear one with my lower rise pants they fall down. And then I look like the teenage boys I used to teach with their pants almost on the ground!

Jess, this is exactly what I did when I could not find a pair of boyfriend jeans that I liked. I just bought a pair of skinny jeans that were a size bigger. I think these would be fabulous paired with a sleek pair of pumps as well. Have a great weekend!

Thank you Steph. Yes, this is how I have to wear my jeans too. All of mine seem larger on me, as I lost weight years ago when I began with this illness. Anyhow, all I need is a belt, and baggier really is my style. Online they say, only sold on-line, so they may or may not be in a store.. Just FYI. Glad you liked the styling and have a wonderful weekend! jess xx
