Retreat in the Smokies

IMG_5084

Happy Monday Ladies!

I wasn’t able to get to all the blogs last week, as we took an excursion with the pups to the Great  Smoky Mountains, about a 3 hour drive and stayed in a place called the McKinley Edwards Inn. It was pet friendly, so we brought the pups. Our main plan to stay there was to enjoy the mountains, but mainly to ride a 1940’s rail car called the Great  Smoky Mountain Rail Road. More on that Wed. Today, I will introduce you to the area in which we stayed in Bryson City, NC.

A beautiful view of the mountains^

My puppies decided to make themselves at home. As soon as I went to rest on the bed, they decided they would take over the couch, and get ready to watch some tv!

IMG_5067

This was our lovely room. Sitting area, King Bed, and the bathroom was larger with a jacuzzi tub! I took advantage of that!

IMG_5083

Posing near the Koi Pond. It was a lovely sunny day when we went out to take pictures outside the McKinley Edwards Inn. The landscaping is pretty, the view amazing, and there were rocks, flowers and a Koi Pond to enjoy.

IMG_5114

Old house on the hill, that looked like it was overtaken by the Kudzu . Hubby and I thought it would make a good Haunted House.

IMG_4924

IMG_4927

The room was just what we needed after a 3 hour drive, and my initial goal when we go anywhere with a jacuzzi, after a long ride, is to enjoy it! So, that I did. My husband in the meantime, went to get some food to go, at one of the best places in town, ( there are about 4 eating estabilishments in town), so I was to have the chicken, avacado and pesto crepes, while he ate the turkey, parmesean, gouda crepe dinner! It was just what I wanted after a long day.

I decided to wear a sweater dress in my favorite color of the season, burgundy. It has an interesting, what I call “Ink Blot” image on the front. Sweater dresses are like nightgowns to me, but dressier. Certainly just as comfortable, and more stylish. I wore my black booties, as I feel they will get a fair amount of use. My jewels are new and shine with colors of burgundy, sapphire, and light mauve, earrings match.

Back home, as soon as we turn the bend to our development, my pup Gibby, starts to cry a little, we say, ” We’re home”, and all is right with the world.

I will have much more to tell you about the train ride we experienced, in a first class 1940s style rail car on Wednesday.

Enjoy your week,

Jess xo

[…] I mentioned on Monday, that while staying in Bryson City, NC, the main reason was for us to go on a 4.5 hour ride on a 1940s rail car on the Great Smoky Mountain’s Railroad. We took a lot of pictures, so I hope to give you an idea of what we experienced on the railroad, and I had to wear my 1940’s style Karina Dress called the Megan for the trip. What could be more apropo? If you didn’t get to read about our combined over night stay at the BNB McKinley Edwards Inn, read about it HERE. […]
