06 May Stylish Monday- How We Style Florals- New Mango Dress

Ladies.  By now you know I love florals. I usually go for the larger print though, and not the tiny roses that remind me of a Grandma’s afghan. ( Not that there’s anything wrong with that!) Today we are looking at how the Stylish Monday group of ladies, styled florals. I’ve been excited to style this new flowy Mango dress, and thought it was time to wear it 🙂

Weekend

So how was your weekend? Did you celebrate Cinco De Mayo? We did meet up with a friend at the local Mexican restaurant, Verde, for some fun margaritas and chit chat. That is my kinda partying.

Over the weekend, my husband worked on the exterior- laying down red mulch, using the sprayer for cleaning the exterior of the house as well as the walkway. I’m in charge of more of the interior- at least things I can do. Bathroom scrubbing and mopping were in order. Isn’t it always that way when you have company! You try and get the house looking as best as possible.! My mom is coming at the end of the month, so we try! Now, I need to get plants for the front door and I like the topiaries that people have giving it a balanced and welcoming appearance.

We also try this week, this new medication for my girl, Truffles, as she has noise anxiety and gets panicked on the highway. We have to drive 7 hours to my brothers and then more the following day to my inlaws, so its the long car trips where she gets panicked, starts to shake and pant. Our vet is having us try this medication for dogs, called, Silio, as we have tried CBD chews, using her camper, piling up the blankets, and Xanax, all to no avail. I don’t want this poor girl to be panting all the way to VA, so we are to give his gel to her about 30 min before the drive. Our vet has high hopes as it is for noise aversion- used for fireworks, storms etc. I’ll let you know how it works out!

How We Styled Florals- My New Mango Dress

I have a variety of floral blouses and dresses I have shared on the blog over the years. Here are a few looks. ( floral dress, floral dress I still love florals and how they evoke romance and Springtime, but my taste has also changed to love solid prints, neutrals, structured looks, etc. I will still always love my florals though.

Today, this pattern caught my eye when the pre-Spring collection came out on Mango. The boho-flowy floaty style, the drop waist, and chiffon material, along with the peaches, rusts, rose pink and white shades that I knew would go well with my complexion and hair.

I have been enjoying buying midi dresses as of late and may consider a maxi dress or two for summer, but I still feel that if you are comfortable wearing shorter dresses and feel confident, then go for it! I told my hubby that until my knees look like large prunes or wrinkled raisins and I am no longer comfortable, then I will wear the shorter dress.

Other Seasons

I have a pair of rust OTK boots, brown OTK boots that this dress would look great within the Fall months. I can see it worn with a long duster as well. Its always worthwhile to look at new pieces and see how they will style with your current closet, how many seasons you can wear it, and how you will style it.

The model, on the Mango site, I think to be in her 40-50s or so, and the dress lays the same on me, as I am 5 foot 9. Life is too short to not wear what you want and enjoy. Nike said it best, “Just do it”.

I can also style this dress with a longer slip dress underneath, and will do so on the blog another time. Slip dresses are still in style and I often am not fond of the slip that comes with the dress, so I may use another slip from a different dress that will work.

You could also style this dress with a pair of trousers or jeans underneath. I can picture this with a pair of cropped flared jeans .

I see this with my slip on woven leather cognac sandals from Soft Surroundings, or another pair of espadrilles. I wore my braided espadrilles from Steve Madden ( similar without braiding)  here that get much wear in the summer.
