Stylish Monday Linkup- How to Style Snakeskin

Morning!

New Year, New Blog Group!

Today I am sharing with you a new group of ladies that I am collaborating with on the first Monday, of the month. We are the Stylish Monday group  and will be having this monthly linkup on our sites!  I look forward to sharing themes with you and seeing how each of us style an outfit. I will also be sharing the other host’s social media accounts soon on this linkup. Today our theme was snake-skin. Have no fear! Snake-skin is just another neutral animal print like leopard. So if you wonder how to style it, have a read!

The Weekend

The weekend went by in a flash, and I actually forgot to list “play guitar” as one of my 2019 goals. If you missed my post on 2018 Reflections and 2019 Goals, have a read! Hubby and I went to this shop, Midwood Guitars, which is owned by a guy with 30 years of Luthier experience in repair and restoration ( among other things). I had to take them to the expert.

Since I haven’t played in 10 years, due to my condition, it was time to take out the ES 335 Gibson Guitar and dust off the cobwebs! We also took in my 415 Taylor Guitar, one that they don’t make anymore, with a smaller body, and a tone you can’t compare, to be set up.

I have set my mind to wanting to get back into playing, even just for enjoyment, and I have to work at getting back some of those guitarists rite of passage… I have no calluses! Calluses are earned through diligently playing and then makes pressing on the strings much easier. So, I was excited to drop off these guitars to set up, and be ready for playing in several weeks!

We also had unseasonably warm weather today in the 60s, where we took a 2.5 mile walk on the nearby greenway with the puppies. So nice, especially in Jan!

Outfit

When Robin told me the theme was snake-skin, I was happy to accommodate! I have done several posts on snake-skin as it was a big trend in 2018, continuing to the New Year. I will be looking at trends for 2019 as well. Have a read –Trending Snake-skin

The focus of my outfit today is my snake-skin booties. With gold, brown and cream shades, they are a neutral that can be worn with any color. The pointed toe elongates the leg, and since I was dropping of my guitars, I thought I would create a an outfit with a bit of a rock and roll vibe.

My Old Navy Rockstar jeans were worn here, and as skinny jeans they work well with the height of the booties. Velvet, a favorite fabric of mine, is styled in a taupe fitted jacket style. I added to the animal print with this silk Equipment blouse I found on Poshmark for a fraction.  One of my new readers mentioned wanting to know how to shop places like Poshmark, and I plan on writing a post explaining in more detail how to do so. Both the jacket and silk blouse are secondhand and the blouse is so wonderful to wear.

What would my outfit be, without a brooch? I love vintage brooches, and wore this gold one to go with the warm tones of the look. My hubby bought me for Christmas,  the  Aragon Drop Kendra Scott earrings from her new collection, they are so pretty in brown and gold tones- kind of a marbled glass bronze look.

How Else Could I Style This look?

You could wear this look with some flared jeans or some trousers. Another option would be to wear a plaid or printed blazer. Since, animal prints are a neutral, this would be mixing prints .. its a great way to experiment. I have paired these snakeskin print, with a plaid dress HERE. If you want to make the boots take center stage, create a monochromatic look with the boots doing just that.  Let 2019 be the year you try different things with your wardrobe.

Yay! I am SO happy you saw my request for a Poshmark post! Giddy. 😘. In that post could you also touch on how to negotiate and/or counter offer on items (i.e. what would be an appropriate amount to counter offer, etc).

Congrats on the new link up – I can’t wait to see what you all style each month! I don’t think I told you my older son asked for a guitar for Christmas. He’s trying to teach himself to play.
The Poshmark Queen strikes again! Love the blouse and blazer, tomorrow I am sharing my Poshmark purchase. Your new earrings are perfect and those snake skin booties are gorgeous. I love the colors in them, they’re such a great neutral.
Happy Monday, looking good my friend!

Thank you Kellyann! It will be fun. Oh, that is great about your son’s interest in guitar. Does he want an acoustic or electric? I also have a Fender Strat USA made that I need to take in.. but the two I took will get me going once they are set properly. I bet he will enjoy it! I have had this blazer for years and have to look for more Equipment blouses, they are so nice! Glad you like the look! Happy Monday too! xx
