Sweet Florals and Sweet Wine

IMG_7118

Happy Monday Ladies,

I am wearing one of my favorite floral skirts today, lots of peaches, red, orchid colors with hints of baby blue . I needed to add more blue hues to my wardrobe, so this Limited sheer top worked to pick up that hint in the skirt. I am sharing with you our experience at the Misty Creek Vineyard this weekend, where there were bouquets of  flowers blooming and wine from the vineyard.

So by now, you know that I love wine. Not like. Love. I am probably deemed by some as a “wine snob”. I am particular about certain things, wine, coffee, tea… I remember hearing reknowned Somieeler Andrea Immer stating that,  finding a great wine doesn’t mean they have to be expensive wines. There are many of great wines in the $10-15 range. ” So, I know what I like, I like wine dry, just like I like my humour.

The great thing is that there are about 130 vineyards in the NC region, so if we go every weekend…  We love to visit different vineyards and we seek out dog-friendly ones and the pups love to hear the sound of me saying “car-ride!” So today I wanted to wear something easy but very springy and you all know how much I love my florals. The skirt I have had for  years from Loft, and  shoes are from Target . Any shoes with bows on it, I am attracted to. We met some lovely people there who were considered “regulars”, and we thought with only the 1 hour drive, it could certainly be us. Vineyards in the South have both dry and sweet wines, but many are known for the Muscadine and Scuppernog grapes, very sweet wines for those who are Reisling fans.

Muscadine, Vitis rotundifolia, is a grapevine species native to the south of Eastern North America. It has been extensively cultivated since the 16th century. Its natural range includes the following states of the US: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee,Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.[1] The plants are well adapted to their native warm and humid climate; they need fewer chilling hours than better known varieties and they thrive on summer heat.

Muscadine berries range from bronze to dark purple to black in color when ripe.[2] However, many wild varieties stay green through maturity. . Muscadines are not only eaten fresh, but also are used in making wine, juice, and jelly. **from Wikipedia**

We first went inside to the tasting room, and had 10 wines to sample. Since before EDS I was basically a 2 drink kind of gal,  I am only able to drink generally up to 2 glasses. The samples were true samples, not quarter glass full like some places will give. We started with a chardonay in a steel barrel, very crisp and delicious and ended up buying a rose, dry, very similar to a white. I have never found a Merlot I like. I don’t eat red meat, so pairing it with barbecue or a giant juicy hamburger is not something I am going to do anyhow. I ended up pouring it in the pitcher, and I don’t know why, but that always embarrases me, as if I am supposed to happily enjoy every varietal that is offered. We brought a picnic, took pictures, and then eased back in our chair as a 2 piece “band” husband and wife team called “Mood Swingz”, which reminded me of some of the band names from the 80s,  played a variety of songs from the 70s to current. They were nice people, Bob and Elizabeth, and when I heard his voice, the tone reminded me of David Bowie. So, I asked if they could play “Major Tom”, and with  harmonies and background, complete with countdown and space effects, they performed it for us. I sat in my seat harmonizing the chorus as the pups ears went back, enjoying the music.

The grounds at Misty Creek Vineyard are just lovely, so we took a stroll, and had a great day overall.

Skirt: old, LOFT ( similar), top: ( the Limited), purse: Rebecca Minkoff, shoes: Target.

I think this is one of my favorite outfit of yours! I love this top with the bloom detail to make it so fun. I wished I could drink wine, it does sound really nice to just relax at a winery. I have extreme low tolerance to alcohol so I don’t have any.

The top is really sheer so I have to wear a nude bra under it, but great for hot weather, it is mesh.I know what you mean, I can drink 2 max and even then I am goofy!

What an adorable skirt and the top is the perfect colour to pick out the delicate teal tone in the skirt. The ideal outfit for wine tasting I’d say! I’m glad you bought a rosé. I do savour a chilled rosé with a soft brie. I’m off to France in a couple of weeks and I shall raise a glass of rosé to you whilst there!

But it’s been wonderful discovering all the 40+ bloggers out there and I’m looking forward to joining the community. You’d absolutely love France. You’d be in your element.
