Tactile Elegance: Mastering the All-Black Ensemble with Texture

Not sure how to make wearing all black interesting?

Tactile Elegance- Making an All – Black Ensemble with Texture

Wearing black can be easy. Throw on black pieces and they are all going to “go”.

But is it going to be fashionable? Interesting?

One way to make it so, is through texture. Wearing different black pieces with multiple fabrics and textures will make an outfit stand out.

I enjoy doing this though wonderful fabrics like tweed, silk, etc, and having a fun patterned tight.

If patterned tights aren’t your thing, think of texture with your shoes! Feathers are a big thing right now. Do you have a feathered sandal you want to take out? Jeweled shoes or a croc boot would also serve well here.

But if you are a patterned tights kinda gal, here are some you might enjoy pairing with your next black outfit. e

Wearing an all black dress? Add some texture with a bag.  Designer Bottega Vaneta woven bags have gained quite the popularity over the years and would take the look to a new level. But the price tag? Not so much. So, here is a dupe of one of their most popular styles.

This studded bag would certainly add interest. Want a little flash? This rhinestone bag will give a bit of sparkle.

Maybe you wouldn’t have worn a fitted blazer here and would have substituted a suede or leather moto jacket. Yes1 That’s it. That would work quite well too.

I did add a bit of color with this handmade clutch but could have easily added more texture with my black croc leather clutch as well.

I am wearing all pieces from my closet here.

Happenings

January is one of those months that we seem to reflect more. I am adding to my pile of things to donate and go through my closet each Fall-Winter/Spring-Summer. I have built more of a closet that I can reach to now and have fun pulling from it, as I pick more classic pieces.

I started a Cardio Funk class, which is basically, Hip Hop, but had one girl substitute, and I was told she was like night and day with the other instructor I had today. Boy, they were right! Loads of energy and it was challenging. If my condition allows I will continue. I did have a bit of a flare up afterwards, so we will see. Otherwise, I am waiting on a Kristen Hannah book I have been looking forward to.

DO you enjoy wearing black and do so with texture? Or do you prefer color during the Winter months?

Every since I was a kid I always dressed in black. I still wear all black to this day. Your black tights are cool.

Jess, you look gorgeous as always! Good tips for mixing textures if not colors. Hope your flare up didn’t last too long.

Great outfit, Jess! Black is big fashion color this season. I love all of the interesting textures you used, and your beautiful bold, gold jewelry. I am wearing black for my blog post this week, too! Thanks for sharing and linking up!

Fun tights and fabulous outfit, Jess! The red coat is the icing on the cake! I do love an all black outfit and always try to incorporate a variety of textures for added interest. But I struggle with taking photographs of black outfits. I always end up just looking like a big black blob! Your photos are gorgeous and you can see every little detail in the textures. I love your necklace, too, It is absolutely stunning.

I always find black so hard to wear! I could talk about neutrals all day though. You look fabulous here Jess xx
