THT- Styling The Vest Trend in 2023

I do love a great menswear or tailored look and vests (or waistcoats) this year are trending.

Styling The Vest Trend in 2023

I’ve always loved a good vest. They give shape and add structure, and I am quite fond of a tailored look as well. Just sharp!

You might have seen this POST and this POST where I styled menswear vest years ago.

There are a multitude of ways to style a vest, but today I focused on this linen vest I bought it 2 colors, a white and tan. The whole look is linen and just perfect for a warm summer day. I bought this tan linen vest at Target, and am wearing an XS. It really is a perfect fit. I have the white in a small and want to exchange, but some of the sizes are not in stock. If you want the vest and it isn’t in your size at Target, Banana Republic Factory has this tan vest that is adjustable in the back. I do like that feature.

I paired it with my J Crew linen pants and also my Vince tan linen blazer for a 3 piece suit look. I just love the look of a vest and how they give definition at your waist, and it can be worn multiple ways. The tan linen pants are out of stock, but they come in a multitude of other colors. If you still want tan, these trousers are lovely and on sale.  I plan on taking this outfit to Italy at the end of September. Yes! We are going, as we had to cancel last year due to PN.

This neutral look needed a bit of pattern and texture, which I love to add if you have a monochromatic look. My espadrilles have gold threading but still add to the fluidity of the look in tan. My favorite scarf is added as well as my favorite croc textured Brahmin bag.

If you create a look that is all one color, monochrome, add some pattern or color with your accessories for a bit of punch!

If you aren’t wanting to expose your arms, or you just are not used to the idea of wearing a vest as a top, you can certainly wear a blouse underneath, go full on menswear with a button down, or style it in a modern way over a dress. Add a blazer for a 3 piece suit look, like I have done here.

Vests can certainly be styled with skirts, pants, trousers, jeans, over dresses. I love the look of a menswear vest with something more feminine, like a pleated longer skirt. The vest is more fitted, so you can have something more flowy or more voluminous on the bottom.

Life Lately

July is always a busy month with 4 birthdays ( mine on the 8th). My boy Gibson turned 12 and I can hardly believe it. We celebrated with my brother in from Hoboken, and his family, along with the rest of my family. We had a great cookout, pool time, just having fun. Hubby and I went to Poplar Charlotte, a beautiful renovated historic home turned Tapas restaurant. Hubby bought me Rick Steve’s Rome and Almalfi Coast travel books, and I have gone through the pocket Rome guide and there is a wealth of information there. The closer we get to the trip, I’ll have more posts relating.

I recently bought this bag by Lo & Sons for our trip as well, as it is highly recommended  as a great travel bag. It has plenty of pockets for my passport, wallet, and 2 zip compartments as well.

My favorite look is the last one with the darling vest and blazer. Also really like the skirt, vest and romantic white blouse. I would wear that outfit all day long if I looked like you in it!!

Hope you had the happiest of birthdays and that this year sees a huge improvement in your health and pain management. Sounds like you have been busy celebrating the first half of the month. We have 4 birthdays the second half of the month. Almost as expensive a month as December!!

I am loving the vest on you, especially with the blazer and scarf as you wore it in the last photo. It’s so sophisticated and timeless. You look gorgeous and the soft colors really set off your beautiful hair.

I absolutely love that tweed vest! You style all of these so well. I would have trouble finding a top in my closet to wear underneath as most of mine as v-necks, but I like that you’re rocking the linen one as the top.

I hadn’t worn a vest since the ’90s but I’m so glad they’re back. Love all the ways you’ve styled yours!

We call them waistcoats in the UK – and I remember them from the 70s. I love your linen vest and the way you’ve styled it xx

I was shocked that vest came back when I saw some in stores. I remember it was really popular in high school and college. I guess it is true that fashion cyclical.

    Happy belated birthday to you!
I think you wear a vest pretty good! Especially the throwback with the skirt, very smart.
