THT- Trending- The Mini Skirt in 2022

The Mini is on trend for Spring 2022.

Mini skirts on Trend for Spring 2022

Mini skirts are on trend this year, and you might be wondering if those days are gone. Or perhaps they aren’t even on your radar?

I did have to laugh at the image of the “micro -mini” which seems like nothing more than a napkin, covering up your bits. No thank you- even in my 20s!

I have mentioned before on the blog, that I don’t really believe in rules for a certain age, those “what women over 40..” or ” what women in midlife” should or shouldn’t wear.

With that said, I always feel that women should wear what makes them feel confident and happy.

Think about what assets you have. Do you love your arms, your eyes, your neck? Are you happy with your legs?

Well, I decided to style the mini for Winter, by wearing textured tights and OTK boots.

My Outfit-

So, with my outfit today, I am wearing an oldie but goodie, black tweed mini. How I balance that is with tall, over the knee boots, thus you see little leg. Over the knee boots come in many styles, and there are flat ones.

All the pieces were pieces in my closet.

I’ve styled my leopard Equipment blouse, which is one of my favorite brands for button down shirts. They fit to perfection! MY DKNY mustard gold velvet blazer has been worn multiple times on the blog adding some structure and texture.

Of course I am a fan of patterned tights, and this set was a steal and add an eye catching look to your outfit.

This look is about pattern and texture. You can still create a similar look if you choose to wear a longer skirt. The tights, tweed, and velvet all add texture, and the leopard top and bag add pattern.

If you don’t see yourself wearing a miniskirt, try taking elements of this look and making it your own.

Personal Note

When I put this look together, I thought of my Dad, who passed away 6 years ago at about this time. I miss him dearly! He was a Steeler fan through and through, and once I styled this, I instantly thought of him in my black and gold!

Do you wear miniskirts? Or would you rather take elements of this outfit to make your own?

I will be discussing Spring 2022 trends on the blog soon as well.

I love your take on the mini skirt trend and to be honest, I adore this entire outfit. It just flows together and looks really great to look at. Your gold jacket is such a cute piece and the details are perfection. I used to love mini skirts but I haven’t really been attracted to them perhaps I need to add some of these elements and see it in a new way. I usually wear pieces as is. Boring I know. Definitely need to branch out more!

I adore this look, Jess! You’ve got the legs for a mini. The patterned tights and over the knee boots are the perfect complement.

I love this outfit – the patterned tights, leopard print and gorgeous velvet jacket – it looks great on you! I do wear mini skirts in winter with tights but I prefer skirts and dresses to hit the knee or below without tights. I just bought a fab pair of retro patterned tights that I’ll wear with a mini skirt. Hope you’re having a great week so far!

This is EXACTLY how I’d feel comfortable wearing a mini skirt, with tights and either booties or tall boots! I love the color of your velvet jacket with it.

I agree with you Jess, if you have nice assets, why not share them with the world. Saying that, you look great in a miniskirt with your long slim legs and the boots just add extra visual effect 🙂

I have to admit that I wear mini shirts more now than I ever did when I was younger. Maybe because when I was younger, I was always trying to be older and I was such a serious girl.
This look is fabulous Jess!! I love the velvet detail too.

That mustard cardigan is so beautiful and cheery – looks great with this outfit! A mini skirt is on my wish list. I’m thinking more like skater mini skirt so it hides my secrets HAHA

The rich colors of this look are fabulous! And you know how to rock a skirt! I love a skirt look because you don’t see them as often so they look very distinctive!
    Peace!

Thank you! Yes, I don’t wear skirts as much as I used to, but I enjoy getting them out once in awhile.

I have also heard mini skirts are coming back, but I think I will bid Adieu. I don’t believe in “Age Appropriate” dressing either, people should wear what they want, but just feel at almost 60 years old now, my time with mini skirts are over. You look fabulous. I love how you styled yours.

I think a mini skirt with tall boots and tights is the way to go – beautifully done Jess! It’s nice to think of your dad too – and channeling his love of the Steelers!

I never have and never will wear a mini skirt. I like them just touching the knee if it’s a shorter length. Maybe it’s because I don’t have lovely long legs like you Jess xx

That is such a cute skirt on you and I love your gold jacket! 🙂 I’ve been really embracing shorter skirts this summer – I think because the kids are bigger and I’m spending less time on the floor with them I feel more open to shorter skirts, haha! Definitely not as short as the ones I wore before kids, but it’s still nice to have a change from maxi skirts now and then 🙂

    Thanks for the link up!

Hope that your week is going well 🙂

Thank you Mica, I know it has to be practical for sure! It is a nice change, and I do enjoy it with tall boots.
