Trending Color- Yellow – Worn with My Floral Pencil Skirt

Morning

Well, a great time was had at the Journey/Def Leppard concert! I wrote about it and will feature what i wore and more about the concert in my post for Turning Heads Tuesday tomorrow. It was one of the most fun evenings I have had in awhile! So amazing! I had so much fun, I danced most of the night and needed Sunday to recoup! 🙂

Today I am “shopping my closet”. As tempting as it is, especially as a fashion blogger to buy what’s new, I have some “older” favorites in my closet, waiting to be worn.

Its been awhile on the blog that I wore a skirt, other than my jean skirt. i enjoy a pretty skirt, but I am more apt to wear dresses in the summer. I did decide however, to pair this yellow mesh, flouncy top with my pink and chartreuse, yellow pencil skirt from Ann Taylor.

When you wear yellow, doesn’t it make you smile or put you in a good mood?

Yellow, mustard and various shades of, are showing in the fashion world this season. Are you afraid to wear yellow as you don’t think it goes with your skin tone? So, you just don’t wear it at all?

I love color! If you have been following the blog for awhile, you know that i have a colorful closet. i enjoy certain neutrals, and at a time when I had the full symptoms and pain of EDS, I wore all black. I do think it signified my thoughts and mental attitude at the time. Now, with my health more managed, I find myself loving different colors, and as many women do, dress according to my mood.

Yellow can make one look sallow, so finding the best yellow for your skin tone is possible!  For me, mustard yellow with fair skin can be very flattering. I also enjoy wearing bright yellow, as in this instance.

If you have darker or olive skin, yellow is your friend!

If you have a “cool” skin tone, ( a blue/pink skin base) pastel yellow would look lovely on you. Pastels have been quite popular this season.

If you are still reluctant to try yellow, wear a yellow accessory. Here I am wearing my white and yellow baubles, dangling from my ears. There are so many pretty yellow statement earrings to “test the waters” and see how you like a certain yellow next to your face.

Going out to dinner, I would wear a white jacket or white jean jacket for added warmth, as we know how chilly restaurants and theatres can get when it is hot outside. I have had this skirt for a number of years and its bright color palette always seems a favorite. I love the pinks, orange and chartreuse color.

Here I am wearing a favorite pair of espadrilles from Aldo I bought for $25 on poshmark. I love the lace detailing and the lace up style. White shoes are one of those must have for Spring/Summer as they add a bright touch to whatever you wear. My Zara bucket bag was added to give it a more casual vibe.

See how I styled this skirt HERE in a post at a Vineyard, a few years back, and you know I love a great jean skirt and gave some shopping options in this post-Not Interested in Shorts- Try a Denim Skirt.

Are you interested in trying to add yellow to your summer wardrobe?

What a stunning outfit. You shopped your closet so perfectly. I think that is a wonderful thing to do in and of itself. I love the yellow on you and the floral skirt is perfection. I do love wearing yellow, but come to think of it I don’t own much in that shade . I may have to do some shopping ! Uh oh!

Yellow scares me because I think I look sallow in it but you look glorious in it! I know there should be a shade that works for me but I’m yet to find it! Maybe I should try again – it looks fabulous on you Jess! xx

Hi Jess! I’m so glad you had fun at the concert! It’s so much fun to just get lost in the music, but you’re right that it can be exhausting! Your yellow top paired with the fun pencil skirt is great on you! Yellow can be a hard color, but I’ve been enjoying it as well this season and have several tops and a pair of jeans. It is such a happy color and looks great on you! Happy Monday!

Thank you Suzanne, well with my EDS, and hypermobility, I try not to stand for long periods, but since it was a rock concert, i had to! I love yellow for summer, and will have to get out a mustard maxi I have. xx

Yellow is absolutely my favorite color!! Sure, some people think they can’t wear it, but there’s always the accessories or items that aren’t close to their face. Besides there really is a shade for everyone—just like every color!!
You look incredible in this, Jess!!!

Yellow is such a fun and happy color. I do think it’s possible for everyone to wear it once they find the right shade. Especially in summer it’s just such a sweet and happy color! Love it with pink too! Beautiful Jess!
