Trending Now- The Lady Jacket

Last week I talked about Indulge in Style: Chocolate Brown Fashion Trends of 2023. Today, we look at ” The Lady Jacket”.

What is ” The Lady Jacket”?

The “Lady Jacket” often reminds one of a Chanel jacket, with its collarless style, buttons down the front and feminine style.

It can be worn on its own as a sweater, layered over a tee, camisole, or blouse, or worn as an outer layer depending on the weight of the style.

I was initially sucked in by browsing J Crew and J Crew Factory and loved the style. I then started scouring the internet and my favorite places to see what I could find.

J. Crew’s lady jacket looked a bit too cropped for me, as I am long waisted, so something to consider if you are the same. If not, it is a beautiful piece that will stand the test of time in your wardrobe.

They come in different materials, tweed, boucle, wool, leather to name a few examples.

Looking to not look to prim and proper? Too feminine? Then try wearing your lady jacket with denim or a pair of faux leather pants. I wouldn’t automatically think pearls and frills.

I have found different lady jackets at different price points and I am including them for you to shop below. I will be styling them on the blog and reels in the near future. If you don’t follow me on INSTAGRAM, I would love if you did, as some content is different from the blog.

Dress the lady jacket down with some wide leg jeans and a pair of converse or fashion sneakers.

Lady jackets are made with different materials, one we are most familiar with is tweed. The newest lady jackets are more knits or boucle.

I just bought this one in a knit, and it is a bit heavier than I expected, but it will be great to wear on cold days or just as outerwear. It is very good quality, but they are out of stock in a small and XS. I bought it in a small, as I wanted length and the sleeves to be long enough. I also bought this one as I loved the stripes and the price was right. I will be styling them soon on the blog. Here is one that is very similar and a costs a bit less.

Keeping it Modern

As I mentioned, if you plan on taking out one of your “lady jackets” that you have had in your closet, I have a few ( as I consider it more of a classic than a trend), you may not want to wear it with a matching skirt and a pair of pumps.
To keep this more “classic trend”, choose pieces that look up to date, like a faux leather skirt, a new cut of denim, some stylish boots or fun new sneakers.

Thank you so much for sharing all of these variations and price points. I love yours from H&M because it is longer. Wish it was available in my outlet store so I could try it on. The less expensive one from H&M is also very nice and more in my budget. Have both in my cart. Will keep an eye on them and hope that maybe they go on sale!!

I’m such a fan, and even have some from the past.
