Trending: Stripes and Espadrilles- Casual Midi Dress and Zara Espadrilles

Happy Monday friends!

Well, it is officially summer! Kidding. But here in Charlotte it almost feels like it is! 85 degree days and sunshine have been the weather for the past 4 days.  I love the sun as it does help my mood but the heat can hold off for a few more months! This weekend we enjoyed just sitting out by Lake Norman bringing the pups and having lunch out. I’ve been having a hard time health wise struggling with coming down on one of my pain medications. I won’t go into it only to say that this illness certainly does challenge me both physically and mentally at times.

Since it was one of those days, I wanted to wear something cool and yet comfortable. I never sacrifice comfort in my style of dress, as I think you can have both- style and comfort, and still look put together. I bought this striped dress about a year ago and had yet to wear it on the blog. I like stripes that are different, cut differently at an angle, a statement sleeve, or something to catch my eye. I loved the grey black and olive colors and knew they would be perfect with fun espadrilles I purchased from Zara last year.

The platform and criss cross straps would go nicely with many outfits and I pictured them with a safari dress style as well. I want to look for some wooden accessories to wear with this look and today thought I would wear my maple wood Jord watch and my chocolate straw bag to accompany this look.

Another thing I love about this striped dress is the diagonal stripes. When stripes are at an angle, I consider them to be more figure flattering as the eye focus toward the narrow portion at the hip. Take a look at what I mean by one of my other favorite striped skirts HERE.

Outfit details:

dress- Target, last yr.

Espadrilles: zara last yr

Straw bag- Poshmark

watch – c/o Jord

Do you love stripes? Are you a fan of espadrilles?

Have fun shopping and Stay Stylish-

Jess xo

The dress and espadrilles pair beautifully together! I have a few pairs of espadrilles but it’s not quite warm enough here yet to wear them…I was wearing boots at the weekend!

Thanks so much Anna! It is one of the most comfortable dresses I own and I want to style it with some wooden jewelry and perhaps a woven straw bag .. Those espadrilles were too cool to pass up last year. xx

Thank you Jodie. It does give me a “emotional boost”. If i were to dress like I used to, in black yoga pants and black tops, for me, it would be a downer. I need something to brighten my day even when I feel badly. This dress is so comfortable, it is like wearing a nightgown! 🙂 xx
