12 Feb Turning Heads Linkup – 5 Year Blog Anniversary

“Let them eat cake!”

I can hardly believe it is 5 years! I have been writing and creating content nearly 3 times a week for that long! Well, when I started, it was 4 fashion posts and week, and that has changed as  Elegantly Dressed and Stylish has evolved into a fashion and Midlife blog. I decided Fridays were the day to write on any topic of interest, many of them being Midlife concerns.

Blog Anniversary

I have learned much from blogging and meeting ladies and making friends has been such a highlight. Initially, the blog was a diversion and distraction from my disease, but it has grown to be much more. I love being creative and sharing my love for fashion, hopefully helping ladies along the way find their own fashion sense and feeling good!

I started blogging and we began taking photographs experimenting and learning as we go. My hubby has done so much, as he is the photographer, and he’s grown as a photographer as well. We enjoy photo shoots and usually make it a priority to go for a drink or lunch afterward, making a day of it!

I have had the fortune of working with many brands thus far. if you are interested in seeing the brands I collaborated with, check out my Collaborations Page. I hope to continue to work with brands that share my aesthetic and style for women over 50.

I am going to keep on enjoying writing, working with brands and speaking to and meeting wonderful readers and other bloggers. I enjoy the personal level of blogging that you can’t get from social media. Maybe I am “old-school”, but I like it that way!

My Little Family

If you are a regular reader of the blog, you know how much my puppies mean to me, so I had to include them as well! Plus it’s nearing Valentine’s Day and my hubby and puppies ARE my Valentines!

Be prepared for some major photobombing!

Gibson, is my red-haired shadow, my right-hand pup, my angel. He follows mummy everywhere. Truffles is my energetic, loves her plush toys, princess, who is so loving as well. I always had dogs growing up, and desperately wanted ones when my hubby and I got married. He has allergies, but after seeing what poor shape I was in, with EDS, asking for dogs, seemed like a wonderful idea, he was fine with taking Zyrtek every day.

Truffles was 2 when we got Gibson, and they have been part of my saving grace. Truffles know when I am emotional, will come over to me to provide comfort, and as I said, Gibby is always next to me. They are so loving! I remember thinking to thank God I had them too, especially when things were at their worst, I had them to comfort me.

Cake Please?

We HAD to get cake! My hubby said to order a cake from our local bakery and boy, this looked amazing! Cream with chocolate shavings adorned this chocolate and white cake. Those strawberries looked pretty atop the cake, but wouldn’t last long! Any excuse to eat cake, right?

My Outfit

This outfit is all older pieces with the exception of my Marc Fisher booties ( 6pm) this year, and my  Zara choker ( last year). I have had this flirty, flouncy tweed skirt by Loft for years, and wanted to pair it with something fun and floral from my closet. I reached for my Autumn Cashmere red floral cardigan my hubby bought me one Christmas. Patterned stockings and another touch of texture with my quilted Rebecca Minkoff added to the look.

We had a good time, and the puppies are always so good when we take photos! We laugh, as their leash is a bit more weighty than their last one, and they stand frozen, as if it were a ball and chain around their necks. Honestly! they can move 🙂
