Turning Heads Linkup -How to Style a Double Breasted Blazer

Lately, I have been on a jean kick, ( See my white jeans and puffy sleeves post yesterday) and also a faux leather kick. Last week I shared my paper bag waist faux leather trousers, this week I am wearing my Zara brown faux leather leggings.

In 2019 we saw a lot of plaid blazers, I’ve always been a blazer girl, as its a great way to look put together with a 3rd piece. We will see more blazers in 2020. I look at it more of a classic style as blazers don’t go out of fashion.

I have a few plaid blazers I bought last year, this one you have seen in this post where I styled a different plaid fitted blazer with matching trousers. A suit if you will.:-) Read post here- Plaid Suiting -Ways to Wear

Today I have styled my double-breasted plaid blazer from H&M with a pair of Zara brown leggings in faux leather material. I am wearing this blazer in a size 4. Although this exact blazer is no longer available, I love the look and cut of this Mango plaid blazer.

How else might I style this plaid blazer?

I like to balance proportions, so I may wear it with a pair of skinny jeans and tall boots.

For varying lengths, I would style this blazer with a camel turtleneck and wide-leg cropped jeans.

Try a fashion-forward look wearing this blazer over a midi dress.

Wear it open with a floral blouse and jean skirt, tights and booties for a pattern mixed look.

Leading into Spring, try a cami and lighter wash straight jeans with heels.

Mix checks. Try a different pair of smaller checked trousers for an eye-catching look.

Wear a pair of kick cropped flared jeans with a light sweater, blazer and booties.

Accessories

You all know I love my accessories and just bought these hoop earrings and this delicate gold necklace with a gold and pearl pendant. I’ve been enjoying wearing some classic gold pieces.

Weekend

I made a goal of going to the gym, ( as I now am accepted into the “Silver and Fit” program,) and began to swim at the local gym. I’ve also been using my new earbuds ( to walk on the treadmill at home.) Going to the gym, I have a similar neoprene jacket to keep the body heat in, when in the pool. I did some pool weights and will take a class on Sundays. It’s easy to go and get upset and look back on what I used to do prior to EDS, but I can also look back and see that 10 years ago I was hardly leaving the couch and bed because of pain. So I am choosing to think positively about what I can accomplish now.

We went to see “Uncut Gems” and I can say, It wasn’t bad. Adam Sandler was very good in the film, but I wasn’t crazy about any of the characters. You know, when you don’t feel for any character to the point where you don’t care what happens to them? I like to connect with movie characters. I do think he is underrated as an actor, and I still love him as a comedian and watching him on SNL. “Opera Man” was one of my favs!

Heres the 2 canvas photos I received from my hubby for Christmas. I love them!

This was the first day we picked up Gibby 8 years ago!!  See how red his hair was! It matched mine!

My girl Truffles! She used to not let us take her picture, so this was a rare moment. She is still a fireball at 10, running around the house.

How would you style this plaid blazer?

You always look fabulous, and this outfit is no exception. I love the way your hair brings out the coral stripe in your blazer. Lovely!

The prints of your pups are a sweet gift. I have a 7 pound dog of my own – a mutt. Likely a chihuahua, dachshund, papillon mix. Your pups are adorable!

First of all, I love how you styled those faux leather leggings with the plaid blazer. Great idea and great tips! I, too, love a blazer and wore them a lot when I worked full-time. Next, OMG, those little canvas photos of your doggies are SO cute! What a nice gift! I love your attitude about seeing the positives in your health situation. It can’t be easy, but attitude is half the battle. Take care, Jess.

      Hi Darlene
So true about outlook and attitude. It really helps for me to see the positive, otherwise I would be down and in bed all of the time! I dont want that! Thank you! I have always loved blazers, even in high school! I wish I would have kept some of my college jackets. It was a wonderful and thoughtful gift from my hubby!

I don’t own any blazers, but you’ve got me seriously rethinking that. I wore them all the time when I worked at the bank (a million years ago) That ones is just beautiful and I was shocked it was from H&M. It looks high end. Your puppy canvases are so cute. You’ll enjoy them forever. XO

I love the canvas pics of your dogs. I enlarged a print for my parents’ dog a while back and it is now in a prominent place in their bedroom. They had to find a home for him as he was getting older as were they and they couldn’t take care of him anymore.

I need to wear my plaid blazer – I haven’t yet this season but I love it and better wear it before it gets too hot. I’m shocked and humbled that my post got most clicked, what a pleasant surprise!
Uncut Gems…I practically had an anxiety attack watching and really felt like I needed a drink afterwards – whoa!

I love wearing blazers Jess – they are such a great addition to the wardrobe. Love the way you have styled this one. I really need to get back into my exercise. I had an awful viral cold over Christmas and have lost the momentum. My son bought me some ear buds too so there’s no excuse to get back on the treadmill.
    Your little doggies are adorable.
