Mixing Metallics: Gold, Brass and Silver/Maxi Dress Appeal

Hi Ladies

Metallics have been big this year, but I have always loved them either as an accent or as a full look. Today my inspiration was from this gold maxi dress I found on sale at H&M. I loved the light material and the bit of leg one can show with the slit up the front of the dress. Built in air-conditioning, thank you very much!  I suppose I am sporting a bit of a tan, or at least some color, compared to when I was younger and used to the color “red” ( not in a good way) Oh, the things we do ( or I did!) to get tan. For more years now I protect my skin with SPF 50, wear a hat, full body suit ( no just kidding) but keep shaded ( as we had a canope this year on the beach) and make sure I am keeping out of the sun as much as possible.

I am the type of person that is truly affected by weather. Grey, cold and rainy is not my favorite. So, when the sun is out, I often want to be outside. I thought I would put this outfit together as a tribute to sun and summertime, without having to show the obvious sign of too much sun! Presently though, woah, it has been very hot and humid here in Charlotte. We had to time the shoot just so, as the dress is made of viscose and pretty much will show any water or sweat mark. Not so much “glowing” , and just a bit tricky when taking blog pics at the hottest time of the year! If I style this again, it may be for fall with layers, or in the early spring when the heat isnt penetrable!

As I mentioned the dress was the inspiration, along with the picture of the beautiful sunset that was taken on vacation. I think we took 20 or more shots at different times. The golden hue of the summer sun. I then decided to add the  the gold coinlike shaped statement necklace and brass earrings  by Slyca Jewelry, and lastely the silver shimmer of these pewter gladiator sandals by Jambu. One purchase I would add to this look would be a bronze or other metallic cuff.

Are you a fan of this year’s trend : metallics? Do you like to combine them? Tell me in the comments section! Do you find it a challenge to dress for this heat?

I know some people that are like that. I’m probably that way too to a certain extent unless I’m, trying to be happy on a morbid day lol. Love the dress on you and the colour works really well with your hair.
