Turning Heads Linkup – Transitional Neutral Look

I told you I was a moto jacket kinda girl. I think this one may be the favorite in my collection, the cognac suede is one of my favorite colors and BLANKNYC jackets are cut just right. I was due for some locational photo shoots and I hope to do more as the weather gets nicer. Today’s neutrals are going to transition into Spring, and this airy chiffon snakeskin skirt can be worn year round.

Wearing my sunnies I was gifted last year from Coastal, I was in the mood for some big frames. It can be challenging finding frames for my face as I usually need a small/narrow frame to fit properly. These are fun, and fashionable, and are perfect when I am in the mood for some fashionista-glam style.

I was thrilled the flowers were in bloom here, one of our favorite spots, as the area hosts our hangout, Cork and Cask. We often will do a locational photo shoot and go to lunch afterward. Its hubby’s treat for his photographic skills 🙂

Weekend

We had a great time listening to my first house concert, near our house in a nearby development. Not one to go out after 9 pm ( yeah, I know how to par-ty)! my hubby and I went to hear this duo, Etta and Max, two performers who won an NRP contest and played at Lincoln Center among many other impressive venues. With 50 people at the house, we listened to the duo from Montana, singing Brazilian tunes and original Montana-esque tunes. I spoke to the guitarist afterward as I am always fascinated with what equipment people played. His guitar was made of cedar, a Tom Anderson, and sounded so warm and rich with bass tones. It was a good time, BYOB, and some exposure to some unique music.

Sunday we went to a new French Restaurant in Uptown Charlotte, called La Bella Helene, and the decor was delicieux, straight out of  1920’s Art Deco period. Beautiful chandeliers and wine racks as tall as the ceiling, black and white tiled floor and an extensive menu with French Pastry baskets ( we had to try!) and everything you could want for an afternoon Brunch. I ordered a glass of French white wine with my  Norwegian Eggs Benedict, which included sumptuous smoked salmon. We will be back!

A Hoot of a Story

Sunday night my hubby heard a sound that he described an owl that turned into a monkey! We have all kinds of birds and some animals in the back of our house and nature trail. This was one sound he had never heard in 17 years of living here! I, surprisingly, was asleep, but the sound woke my husband due to the strange sound of a hoot that turned into a type of screeching monkey sound. It was a Barred Owl ( we looked it up) that makes the strange sound!

My Outfit

I bought this chiffon snakeskin skirt years ago from Ann Taylor, and it is one of my favorites in my closet. I can wear it in the summer with a tank and sandals, and still, look elegant and put together. I love pieces more and more than can work year round and be versatile.

Sticking with a neutral palette, I wore a camel sweater from Banana Republic, suede moto from BlankNYC ( Nordstrom) and my Jambu boots in a rich dark tone. My favorite Brahmin bag makes another appearance. As I mentioned with neutrals, the best way to create an interesting look is by wearing texture, the bag, and suede jacket adds just that.

If you missed my post on Spring Trends 2019- What Would You Wear? -Have a read, as neutrals are making a big splash this Spring/Summer and as much as I love color, I love my neutrals too!

This is such a lovely, sophisticated look, Jess. When we get to a cooler climate, a moto jacket is on my “must have” list. I’m with you on having a warm brown suede one vs. black!

Thank you Kim! I do have a black leather jacket that I bought years ago, but I don’t wear it as much. I love warmer colors that look better with my skin tone. I say, go for it! 🙂 xx

    Jess,
I finally have a blog up this week!
I love your neutral outfit and it’s a wonderful transition outfit from winter to spring.
I quit doing my Tuesday link up party because I am spending too much time working on the next event and as an interior designer.
I dont have the engagement you do and to scramble to post by Tuesday to have a link up party with a few on board wasn’t worth my energy.
I love your party and will always see you on Tuesday!

    Have a great weekend!
    Robin

These neutrals sure look great with your hair.

I’m so jealous of the flowers blooming in the photos. We are still a month or more away from that here.

I had to listen to that owl after that story. My pug didn’t care for it. LOL

My husband and I heard an owl hooting outside our window just a few nights ago! So bizarre! We haven’t heard one in years. That French Restaurant sounds so yummy, I love French food! I love your creamy colored skirt with that rusty brown moto jacket. I have a moto jacket in a burgundy color and a black one and I just love them!

Neutrals are my jam! Actually come to think of it, I need to add more printed things and texture in my closet. I love your snakeskin skirt. How gorgeous! It truly is a gem. That’s crazy, the sound that your husband heard. So glad our hubby’s are not easy to scare because if it were up to me, I’d be hiding under the covers! Yes, total chicken right here!

Jess, this is such a great outfit. I love the neutral palette to transition into Spring but you are still keeping warm. I just bought a new moto jacket in green and a snakeskin top, never thinking to pair them together, but now I might be inspired to wear them together! I also have a bit of a moto jacket problem. I have like 12!
