Watercolor Pastels

IMG_6680

Happy Monday, Ladies

I have just been in love with all of the pretty pinks and pastels lately, I wanted to create a look around this watercolor scarf and Impressionistic style.

IMG_6676IMG_6677IMG_6696IMG_6693

During my teaching years, I developed a lesson plan around impressionistic art  from Monet and  Edward Manet.. What I loved was the pastel or soft colors that Monet used for his art. The blending of soft colors imoted a certain tone from the viewer, just as when my students would listen to Debussy, an Impressionistic musician whose use of  “impressionism” was disputed. To me, “impressionism” is about expression and diversity of the time. When my students compared Debussy’s music, to Monet’s ‘Water Lilies” they had to describe the tone or the feeling comparing the 2 mediums.

The soft watercolor or pastel scarf is remniscent of Monet’s or Manet’s paintings, and what they evoke. Fashion does that as well.Fashion can evoke a feeling of darkness, passion, femininity, softness….

I would love to revisit this topic.

For today, I decided to present this look that evoke a soft quality, romantic look. It is a casual look with the light boyfriend jeans, a soft blue sky-like color, combined with the blues, greens, soft lavendar of the scarf, and light pale pink and darker shade of the cardigan and top

Impressionist painting characteristics include relatively small, thin, yet visible brush strokes, open composition, emphasis on accurate depiction of light in its changing qualities (often accentuating the effects of the passage of time), ordinary subject matter, inclusion of movement as a crucial element of human perception and experience, and unusual visual angles. The development of Impressionism in the visual arts was soon followed by analogous styles in other media that became known as impressionist music and impressionist literature.  ** From Wikipedia

Pretty in Pastels, yes you are! Pink and soft pastels look wonderful next to that amazing red hair of yours, not to mention the soft natural glow of your skin color. I would be wearing pinks and pastels daily if I were you.
