05 Dec Wearing Gold for the Holidays
“Silver and Gold, Silver and Gold, Everyone wishes for silver and gold. ” An oldy but goody from Burl Ives. I’ll be wearing gold for my Holiday outfits this year.
Wearing Gold
While researching the color gold, I found that it has many meanings. We know that it is often connotated with opulence, wealth, success. In various cultures, it means affluence, ability and success. It has spiritual association, as there is often gold throughout the Church. Ancient Egypt believe that their gods bones were made of Gold.
Gold represents light, happiness and is a very elegant color. It is also associated with success. The athletes in the Olympic Games receive gold metals as the top honor. It is such a warm color and shares many of the same qualities as mustard yellow.
Color psychology is quite fascinating!
But onward. let’s discuss my gold outfit today. This warm gold, velvet jacket from DKNY is one I have had for years, that I continue to style in the Fall and Holiday months. I love the ruffle detail and the statement the piece makes. Everything else is from my closet. The Coastal Clutch I received has a beautiful leaf gold brooch that compliments this look. What is wonderful about Fall/Winter months, there is much time to create lush, multi-textured looks with fabrics that are quintessentail to the Season. ie. velvet, tweed, leather, lace, brocade.
The Banana Republic pencil skirt shines with a gold fabric and I the cream cami and sandals add a warmer touch than a black shoe for a change of pace.
You could certainly add a cream turtleneck to the look, but I do feel the cami keeps the dressier nature.
I’ve styled this skirt on the blog as well in these posts:

This year has whizzed by! Hard to believe we are in December, but here we are nearing Christmas. My Dad’s Birthday was Dec 2nd, and I each year (and more oten) I think of him, I miss his presence and sense of humour. My hubby and I went to a new distillery the other night to have a few drinks to celebrate my Dad. They didn’t have a Pink Squirrel! (inside blog joke… read about it here).
Have a nice time at some of the Christmas events and it is just going to get busier as next weekend, we are going to my SIL and brothers house for an ornament and cookie party. Everything is wrapped and most of the decor done. I will share pictures on Stories as well.
Are you a gold wearer during the Holidays? Or do you prefer wearing silver?

Posted at 15:50h, 06 DecemberYou look stunning in gold Jess! I am a silver lover for jewellery, but I do love golden shades for apparel. December 1st is a sad memory of my brother’s tragic car accident in 1968. We will always miss the ones we love and the more we love someone, the more we miss them. May we be reminded of God’s everlasting love for us this Christmas season and always! 🎄
Blessings of peace!

Posted at 08:15h, 05 DecemberYou look fabulous in gold, Jess! I have a penchant for anything sparkly and shiny during the festive season. I love sequins and velvet. I’m not sure if I’ll be wearing much this year though…I don’t think we’ve got any parties to go to! But perhaps on Christmas day!
Big hugs

Posted at 07:05h, 05 DecemberGlad you celebrated your dad’s birthday, I am getting to the point where I can toast my dad without crying but darn, I miss him. You wear gold so well Jess and I love the textures in this outfit. I wear some gold but not too much, it can be a little too warm for me but I love it!
