It was another sunny, hot day, here in the Carolinas. The sunshine just really uplifts my mood, and at one point my mother suggested that I purchase a SAD lamp for the winter. Well, it never gets that bad here in the winter; the dreary, grey days were saved for my previous place I lived, Pittsburgh, PA. There were many more grey days in the winter where one might need such a lamp. I do, however, need to put sunscreen on when we go out, as I am one to sit in the sun a bit more than my husband, he prefers the shade.

Today we found a nice place to take photos, though we found it amusing that cars were stopping as we were taking pictures. I felt like I was in Time Square with a professional photographer or something. I just get a kick when people slow down and people either look, or stop as if they are interrupting something very important. 🙂 Funny.

We spent the afternoon having lunch at Corkscrew, another favorite haunt, where I had a delicious dry but slightly fruity with notes of pear and citrus, glass of white wine. So good! I was really in the mood for a Martini at Bonefish, as they have muddled Watermellon or Strawberry martinis which are so good and refreshing, but they didn’t open until late. So, we had white wine, sat and enjoyed some tasty sushi, named “The Boss”, in other words, what my nickname is at home. ( just kidding!) It consisted of ahi tuni, row, tempura flakes, cream cheese, avacado white fish, and wrapped like a California Roll. This place makes THE best. Overall, a good day!

Initially I was looking at another eyelet in white, but the shape of this skirt coupled with the fact that it was very versatile in black was very appealing to me. Another Ann Taylor find. The top was an Ebay find about 3 years ago, from White House Black Market. ..And I got a NEW pair of shoes, approved by my Physical Therapist. They are by Clarks, and the Artisan line is so cushiony, she agreed along with the stability. I love them!! The earrings are vintage from Etsy, and the hairpin, 1928, some fun vintage looks to add.. More views of my new shoes in some upcoming posts.

Skirt: Ann Taylor,  Top ( old, WHBM, ), Necklace: Jewel Box, Hair pin: ( 1928.com), Earrings:( vintage: Etsy)  Bag: Balenciaga

    Hi Jess,
black and white is always a good choice and goes so lovely with your hair. The skirt is very pretty and so elegant with your top and necklace. Sorry I´m late with my comment, but my girls are home and enjoy a school vacation, so I spend a lot of time with them.

I’m always so awkward when taking photos in front of other people too! It makes me so uncomfortable when they stop and comment. I guess it’s a way to network? Anyway, that eyelet skirt is a great find! The trim sets it apart.

Lovely outfit Jess. Can’t wait for upcoming posts with additional pics of the shoes. I haven’t tried Clarks but the ones I’ve seen look very comfy. Speaking of grey days in Pittsburgh, today is such a day and add to it cooler 60 something degree weather and I feel like going back to bed. Geez, can we get a break? lol.

Great skirt. I am so into eyelet everything right now. I keep trying to hold myself back every time I spot a new eyelet top, or eyelet shorts and now you’ve tempted me with an eyelet skirt. MUST RESIST.

    • Jess Jannenga
Posted at 12:59h, 09 June Reply

Ha Ha! i can be bad at resisting as well. But I bought a midi eyelet in white, and then saw this, tried it on, and that one went back. This fits very well and I thought of the versitility. Thanks so much. jess xx
