Jess in a Sporty Style! Styling Spanx Faux Leather Leggings

I finally fell for the “hype’ and bought the Spanx faux leather leggings this year and decided to style them in a sportier way.

Street Style or Sporty Style

I styled them in a “street” or “sporty style” today – which I do admit, is not something you see me wear often. The purchase of these faux leather leggings has been well worth it, as I have already worn them several ways on the blog-

I did size up one as I don’t like things tight or compression on my gut.

I know you might find this hard to believe, but I didn’t have any leggings until last year with a pair from Soft Surroundings. I had workout “gym” leggings, but those don’t count as fashionable staples as we don’t go anywhere after working out ( cause I work up quite a sweat!)

So, I have been wanting to wear my Vince Camuto leopard sneakers for a bit now, and thought this was one way to do it!

I loved the knit leopard design and thicker sole. Since it has gotten colder, I layered my thicker leopard cardigan over my chocolate brown turtleneck. Remember when I talked about combining brown and black in this post?  This is another example.

This is such an easy combo for running errands, going out for drinks, whatever the occasion where you want to look put together, but at the same time, dress a bit more casually. Here you are replacing the skinny jeans with the leggings, and layering using a basic turtleneck. The sneakers are considered “fashion sneakers”, so you could easily wear a pair of leopard slip ons or something similar.

What’s Up?

We had 2 very nice dinners last week, as my brother and sister bought a house near us and are going to move here in Jan. My hubby is in Real Estate, ( and IT) so that was nice too! To celebrate, we went to a restaurant we haven’t been in awhile, and I had a crab cake salad. I do think I could eat crab cakes every other day! We also met my sister one afternoon in the “Hip” area of town, as there are many new restaurants to explore .We decided on “STIR” ( don’t you love the one word named places?) and they have an extensive mixed drink menu, ( hence the name) but we ordered wine and beer. Fried green tomatoes, oysters and fish tacos followed.

I have linked exact pieces I am wearing, except the cardigan. It is not in stock, so I linked similar pieces.

I also fell for the hype Jess. After several years of adding the Spanx leggings to my wish list, I made that dream come true during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! At first, I wasn’t sure how I felt about the sheen. But the more I tried it on, the more I slowly loved it. You styled yours beautifully and with my favorite pattern, leopard. I am going to try this as well because well, why not? I adore your sneakers as well. A great way to add oomph! to a look for sure!

Always nice to have family close. That crab cake salad sounds amazing! I love crab cakes, but never had in salad form.

I keep looking at these leggings. Hard to justify the price, but seems they are very good quality, which is exactly what I am looking for.

This is absolutely beautiful Jess. I never used to wear my work out leggings except for working out too, but lately I’ve been giving it a go. I mean, I already own them so why not??
I have yet to try the Spanx yet,

Thank you Kellyann, Ibought these leopard sneakers last year and have been wanting to style them. Yes, my brother will be moving in to his house at the end of Jan. Not sure about mom, she may just float to all of us kids, since 3 of the 4 will be living here. 🙂

Awesome outfit, Jess!! I still don’t have a non-workout pair of leggings. I’m not even sure I entirely understand how they work. If you took off the cute cardigan, your butt shows. Is that how we do it now? It used to be that I’d see women in leggings but only in long tunics. I need an intervention. Stat!! 🙂

Also how/where do you work out?

    Kisses to the furs!

Thank you Wendy! It took me awhile to decide if I even liked leggings, because to be honest, I had but one tunic sweater in my closet and a few tunic tops. I did buy a few sweaters secondhand to wear with these leggings. I did really like how the Spanx faux leather looked on bloggers and thought to try them.
I wore the cardigan over the turtleneck knowing that it was cold that day and I wouldn’t have to remove it. No, I am not into leggings with short tops, it doesn’t look right!
So, if you want to try leggings. Try them on, as I don’t like things too tight, so in Spanx, you go up a size. You can certainly style them with long tunic shirts, sweaters, and I love th elook of a longer blazer and button down.
I have a treadmill at home and do HITT workouts as well as inclines, jogging. I also have weight equipment , kettlebells and resistance bands I use at home. I am thinking of interspersing 2 or 3 days a week at a gym nearby to vary the workout and get in some water aerobics and weight machines.
Let me know if you need anything else! Thanks Wendy!

Great look Jess! I am enjoying the sporty style because the shoes are so comfortable compared to the heels I normally grab. Glad to hear your brother and SIL will be moving there soon, is your mom soon to follow? That will be great to have more family close by. Sounds like you had a great weekend!
    xo,
    Kellyann
