New Red Sweater with Tweed Mini Skirt

Happy Monday friends and Happy New Year!

( Did you notice I increased the font size? 🙂

Back to business in the New Year. I am sharing some of the fashionable gifts I received from Christmas this week, including this fine knit red sweater. I have been adding more red to my closet this season and will be able to style this sweater in a multitude of ways.  I did post my 2020 Goals on Friday, so if you didn’t get to read them, see post HERE.

My Outfit

My mother in law gave me this sweater  ( ON SALE for under $40) and oh how I love this rich deep red that is my preferred shade of red for my complexion, as opposed to an orange-red. The button-down style is one you can wear tucked in, or left out, as well as layered over top of a button-down shirt or over a dress. Puffed sleeves are big this year, although these aren’t as pronounced as some.  I have another sweater I bought that has puffier sleeves. An 80’s detail, I will take puffed sleeves, just no shoulder pads! Let’s not bring that back!

I’ve had this black tweed mini forever from Loft, and love it with textured tights ( Target). These black booties are getting a lot of wear, and are a must for your stylish closet!

New Year and the Blog

With this new decade and year, let’s talk about fashion, beauty, fitness, and taking care of yourself at midlife. I want to make this a great year! I have mentioned before having a Reader’s survey, and I plan on accomplishing that this month. So, be thinking readers, what are the things you most enjoy reading about, or is there something you would like to see here on the blog?

I’ve been watching quite a few YouTube videos and may consider doing some here and there. I have to think about it! I primarily watch makeup videos and doggy videos! ( Did you ever see “It’s Me or The Dog?) Speaking of pups, hubby got me 2 large canvas prints of Gibby and Truffy I adore, so we’ll probably be hanging those and a few others today at home. ( I’ll have to get some pics of them for tomorrow)

I don’t wear much black, but when I do, I add color near my face. This black leather jacket from Via Spiga is one I have had for 10 years and if you zip it up, the knit collar covers your neck.

I’ll be combining this red sweater with other colors, but this is one of my favorite classic combinations- black and red.

The idea that redheads shouldn’t wear red is a fallacy, just choose this warmer blue-red over the orangy red.

What a great look! I’ve always loved red and black. Back in the 90s I was made of honor in a black & red off the shoulder mermaid dress! Those were the days.

Thank you! I had a mermaid dress too as a Maid of Honor! It was blue and white though. Glad you liked the look!

Gorgeous outfit! Red and black is so dramatic – one of my favorite color combinations. And the shade of red in your new sweater is so yummy! My favorite shade of red too.

Oh, and I do appreciate the larger font!
