11 Jan Red Wool Coat, Velvet Blazer and a Vintage Inspired Dress
Hello Ladies
I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! Ours was fun, as is anytime there is wine tasting involved. That time of year for red wines, my favorite being dry and smooth. I have yet to find a Malbec I don’t enjoy, and along those lines, I also love both Tempranillo and Granache. Pinot Nior is still a delicious favorite, and a pretty safe bet as well. I love to try new wines, learn about the regions and experience new flavors. I wouldn’t say my palette is developed to the point where I can say, ” I smell a hint of burnt marshmallow, a tinge of dried cherry and a spot of cinnamon. ” I just know what I like.
Now that I am on the topic of reds, I thought I would bring my choice of wardrobe into the discussion. We have had a very mild winter here in Charlotte, not dipping below 40 degrees and many days in the 50s. Christmas was a fluke at 72 degrees. I am not complaining, however, where I live one does not need more than ONE coat. I mentioned need. Well, since we are fashion bloggers, I think we know by now, most of what we purchase are “Wants”, and I did want more than one winter coat, so this dark red pea coat with the high collar and mid length really caught my eye. Come on! One coat? 🙂 I bought it on-line from Bluefly, and love the crimson red color and fit of the coat, and the belt. I am also wearing another shade in the red family, a blazer you have seen before styled a different way, my burgundy velvet blazer, a piece very versatile in my closet. I decided to pair it with my Karina Megan dress in a blooming large print that I can style for fall-winter, as well as spring. The shape of the Megan is reminiscent of the 40s, and with Karina dresses are vintage inspired. I decided to add more texture to the look with my JJ Winters croc black clutch and instead of booties, add my tweed kitten heels with burgundy tights.
So whether it is reds in your closet or in a favorite wine, both can be quite appealing!

Posted at 09:42h, 13 JanuaryWow, Jess! You look gorgeous! As usual, I love the entire outfit. You never miss a beat with your outfits. That coat is a show stopper. I love what you said about wines because I am the same way…you’ll never see me swishing or hear me saying “piquant ” or “soupcon”, but I know what I like and do not like.
