12 May Black and White Stripes, a Pop of Red with My Shoes and Hair Thoughts
Hello Ladies
How is your week going? I have been pretty busy. Doc’s visits, cleaning, blog work, etc..I have been walking with hubby and the pups reguraly on the greenways that we have near our house. I enjoy walking, except when it is nearly 90 degrees. We have had a bit of a heat wave here in Charlotte, where there have been a few days in the high 80s to 90s. I am not a fan! Would like a fan.. just not one. Today my hair will be trimmed/cut and there will be a glaze/wash on it as I think about in the future possibly getting a LONG, angled bob. I dont know. I am always afraid to cut too much and seem to go through this each summer when the hair sticks to the back of one’s head and the only hairstyles seem to be “the bun” or ” the ponytail”. I like the chignon, so I just need to look up ideas for styling in the heat. I don’t think it will be anytime soon. Just a consideration.
Anyhow, I am here to show you my find from White House Black Market. I think I own one striped shirt, one striped jacket. Not many stripes. However, I find that if I like the cut of the striped dress, or some other unique quality in a striped skirt, it might attract me more. I have an Ann Taylor striped skirt I will wear more on here that I love. The stripes on the side of the skirt come in at an angle, and the middle outwards are straight. Love this cut, as it narrows the hip and just adds more visual interest.
This dress from WHBM was a mere $15 and like new, bought on Poshmark. I liked the material, made well and the details of the silver buttons at the waist, giving it more definition. That seems to be how it works with Stripes and I. I added my Zara red croc block strappy heels, and my Kate Spade beau bag in black. Just a pop of color and a red lip will be just right for today.
Do you wear many stripes? If you don’t why?
Still a few days left to win a pair of shoes from JAMBU. CLICK HERE.

Posted at 10:09h, 20 MayHello dear Jess! You look sensational in stripes! My daughter Jean wore a striped dress for opening day at her new eco boutique this week, it’s on my blog! I do have a couple of tops with stripes. I love your red shoes, my favourite colour shoes!
Have a lovely day and hope it’s not too hot!

Posted at 17:21h, 12 MayWhat a great dress. Stripes have to complement for me to where them especially in the waist and hip area. I have some striped tops, but no skirts or dresses. I like the way this one angles to the waist and I think that would be a better look for those of us who have some extra weight around the middle and thighs. Love the red shoes. You look great! – Amy

Posted at 18:55h, 12 MayThank you Amy! For me, I just like stripes with this kind of detail, or a certain cut. I have one striped skirt from AT I really like because of the direction of the stripes and the cut. I appreciate your comment and stopping by! xx

Posted at 15:25h, 12 MayFabulous look, Jess! I love stripes…like a lot. I wore stripes every day for a whole week…inadvertently! There are that many striped items in my possession. And black and white with a pop of red is my all time favorite combination. So this entire outfit just had me swooning! And a long angled bob for summer…YES!!! It would be stunning.
And this…”Would like a fan.. just not one” had me in stitches. I feel you. I am too hot once we head upwards of 68 degrees! It is 81 today where I live and I don’t like it one bit. I am actually the only one not complaining about the high of 46 degrees predicted for this Sunday! Strange Northern NY weather.

Posted at 18:57h, 12 MayThanks so much Shelbee, I really dont own many stripes but do like tops or dresses with ruching or details. It is all about the cut. So glad you like the look, I appreciate you stopping by and your comment. I am too much of a chicken for a haircut like that right now, but possibly in the future! Glad I could make you laugh! 🙂 Have a great weekend xx

Posted at 09:55h, 12 MayThis dress is perfect—it’s not outrageously printed, yet the details & slightly skewed stripes at the waist make it so flattering (not that you need that—but even my mom would like it and think it looks good on her)
And, of course, I love the pop of color in the shoes—it’s so my thing too!!
