07 Sep Summer Style Flashback – 8 of Some of My Favorite Looks
Since Summer is drawing to an end ( well at least in the retail world). I thought i would do a flashback post. Here in NC, it really doesn’t get “chilly’ until the end of Oct. My blog is heading to the 5 year mark, so that marks I am sure, a few outfits that i love and isn’t it always fun to look back at your style from years past? How has it changed? What might I add to my summer wardrobe? Well, at this point in time, I am getting excited about buying cashmere sweaters, dusters and booties, but really there are end of season sales out there where you can shop for the existing season.
Summer Style Flashback
BUT.. today i share with you a fun post- Summer Style Flashback- what outfits I loved and would wear again.
One of the things I think of summer dressing for me is being cool and comfortable. Great colors. Statement accessories, which have lately been earrings, as often too much jewelry is just too heavy ( especially necklaces) when the temps are heating up! So, I will tell you what 8 outfits i chose, and why! I love color, great bags and cute sunglasses are a must. ( mine are prescription from EyebuyDirect)
Look 1
This look is easy, breezy! I have about 4 or 5 maxi dresses in my closet and find them comfortable and enjoyable to wear. This Loft maxi, which is a few years old caught my eye with the sea aqua blue green color and lightweight material. I added some additional color with my Zara statement necklace and green drop earrings. What’s come back into style is a thinner cat eye sunny seen at various retailers like Zara and Mango.

Continuing the maxi dress theme, I love this mustard yellow dress from H&M. I don’t shop there much, as I have been trying more thrift stores and prefer a bit better quality, but i did love the front slits and the color. This dress could also take me into Fall with a long duster in a Fall shade and booties. I wore one of my favorite pairs of gold threaded espadrilles from Franco Sarto here and have a few pairs of booties from this Brand.
Look 3
Read about my floral slip dress
This slip dress, worn a few years back is also from H&M. Its interesting how you gravitate to certain stores and later find ones you like better. However, i do like the light, soft material, and the slip dress. I would love to add a few more slip dresses to my closet for next year, as they are versatile. I could make this even more casual with a pair of white converse and a jean jacket or for the Fall wear a long duster or moto with boots. An olive long or midlength cardi would really make the print stand out.
Look 4
Read about my safari khaki shirt dress
One of my favorite summer styles is a safari look. A neutral olive, this dress, as with any shirt dress can be worn open with jeans, shorts or trousers. For this summer, I kept it easy with an always trendy, leopard print scarf. I stuck with neutral hues and wore the death out of my fringe cognac colored sandals.
Look 5
Nothing like all white for the summer. It’s fresh, crisp and a light outfit to wear. I would wear the jacket to dinner- but an all white top or cami underneath would complete this look. I am a fan of adding neutral accessories to all white, in this case, tan sandals and a leopard clutch. I have other white looks for summer on the blog – HERE and HERE.
Look 6
READ about my floral linen dress
My favorite dress of the summer, I have learned to love linen. It keeps you cooler and we need that in the summer! I love large floral prints and how the red pops on the pink fabric. Strappy heels are a great choice with dressy dresses. I bought this from Zara.
Look 7
READ about my shorts and embroidered yellow top
I love yellow and the details in this top. The embroidery and lace detail are so pretty. I also enjoy wearing shorts this time of year, and these white denim and my blue denim shorts have been staples. Top from Zara, shorts from LOFT.
Look 8
READ about my coral lace shift dress look.
I’ve had this dress for a number of years now, and loved the color and the neckline. If you don’t wear shorter dresses, it could be worn as a tunic or in the Fall, with some leather leggings. I am sure you all know by now, how much I love color!
These are a handful of outfits I have enjoyed wearing throughout the summer. I am all about easy breezy dresses and denim shorts here in the Summer months.
This Fall on the blog, I hope to do a post on shopping for moto jackets, Fall trends, Fall staples and other Fall Fashion discussions. I’ll also delve into more Midlife and Health topics.
What style of dress do you most enjoy wearing in the Summer?
Have a great weekend!

And that pink and red floral dress is amazing! And that yellow lacy top from Zara with the white shorts – those are my three favorite looks…but really, you look great in everything!

Posted at 10:32h, 08 SeptemberHi Bettye!
Aw, thank you so much. I am 5 foot 9. I have just gotten into maxi dresses over the last several years and really like the idea of wearing them in the Fall – maybe a long floral belted.. gotta keep my eye out! The pink dress is linen and I used to stay away from linen due to the wrinkles, but now I just call it part of its personality! Thanks so much. I loved the details on that yellow top too. I appreciate you stopping by! xx

Posted at 08:57h, 07 SeptemberLove all of these, Jess. I appreciate the look back. I have a hard time getting on other people’s blogs during the summer while I am taking care of my grandson, so it is nice to have this review. I especially love the mustard maxi and the all white outfit with the jeans and blazer, but all of your looks are lovely. Have a great weekend. – Amy

Posted at 11:07h, 07 SeptemberHi Nest,
It is funny, as years ago, in college, I wore mostly black. Now, I don’t have much black in my wardrobe, as I love color very much. Glad you enjoyed the look back! xx
