Turning Heads Linkup- White Blazer for Spring

Hello friends,

I hope you enjoyed your Easter Weekend. I wouldn’t say my style has changed persay, but it has evolved. I love structured pieces and am adding pieces for Spring and Summer with some structure and neutral tones. Less, florals, more gingham and neutrals. Today, I chose pieces from my closet, including this secondhand white blazer, to create this neutral look.

Here I am wearing my Coastal prescription Sunnies with a large, squarer shape. I find I need a square shape in my glasses to balance my smaller oval-shaped head. Read an older post I wrote about How to Find Sunglasses for Your Face Shape. I have gone to Lenscrafters before and a sales lady wanted me to try on kiddie glasses! Generally, I look for frames around 48-49 mm in height, which is small. I wanted a bit of a larger frame for my sunnies, Fashion’s sake and style. I do wish companies like Warby Parker would keep some of their older styles, so I could just get the glasses I love ( in the fist pic) made into sunnies. ( ok, First World problem.. ) The other pair here is a pair of tortoise cat eye from Zenni Optical.

My Outfit

My blazer is secondhand from Poshmark. It is from The Limited, and I bought it last year for a small price. I’ve linked up some white blazers for you below, as they are a great and nearly essential staple for the Spring wardrobe. There are so many ways to wear this white blazer, I’m sharing just one this afternoon, but will style other ways.

Here are some ideas:

  1. Wear with lighter colored denim and a white tank for a casual look, brighten it up with some fun sneakers, either colored or patterned ( leopard, snakeskin, blush colored, etc)
  2. Add it over a pair of trousers for a dressed up look. Pair it with some woven sandals that are popular for Spring. Read post- Woven Bags and Shoes for Spring.
  3. Add it to a jumpsuit. I have a black jumpsuit and I love to jazz it up with a blazer, black and white are always in style!

 Weekend

Had a great Easter weekend and started a new tradition. My mother in law suggested we do this each year. My hubby and I saw A Bronx Tale, the musical. It is on Broadway and was adapted from the movie in 1993, staring Robert Dinero, who directed the film. It has a bit of West Side Story, Meets Jersey Boys, meets the Mob. It is about Chad Palmiantari’s ( the actor) life growing up in the Bronx and his relationship with a mob boss, Sonny and a coming of age story.  I loved it!! I know mobster stories are always romanticized, but this was taken from an autobiographical account from the actor.

This circle woven bag is new from Zara and I couldn’t take my eyes off the natural wood and patterned rattan. It fits my wallet, phone, lipsticks, mirror. Plus, it has a navy and white checked interior like I’m going on a picnic, it’s so cute.

I love a beautiful silk neck scarf sometimes instead of a necklace for when the weather gets hot, plus it adds color and print!

Now.. are we going to soon see May flowers??

This blazer is secondhand from Poshmark, but I will link up pieces that are similar to what I am wearing.

    Jess,
I really love your white cardigan and khaki trousers. This neutral outfit is so on point. You also know that I am a huge fan of a round handbag. How cool that you thought to see a musical for Easter weekend. That’s a wonderful idea. I hope you are well my friend.

Hi Elle, Thank you. It is tough sometimes to capture white, but it is a blazer. Glad you like the look, I am a big fan of cargo pants, these are so comfortable. We hope to make it a regular event, going to a show on Easter weekend. I know A Bronx Tale plays on Broadway and we really enjoyed it.
Have a great day Elle! xx

That’s a great jacket, Jess. Very timeless. I love how you mixed it with a more casual pair of pants, but then could easily dress it up. You look so cute in a scarf tied like that too. XO

I really like this outfit and am going to try to emulate it. The pants I’m wearing in my current post are similar and style to these, so that’s wear I’ll start! The jacket was a good purchase, especially since many of the cropped jacket, not overly fitted styles are so popular right now. And, I’m also a woman who loves a silk scarf!

Jess, I love this outfit and your sunglasses! The sunglasses problem is real though! I can no longer order my script online from Zenni or any other online places really because I need a very strong prescription with a no line bifocal and they don’t even offer it online. So I end up paying a small fortune for all of my glasses. Slowly, I have been increasing my glasses wardrobe though. I have two pairs of regular glasses and one pair of sunglasses. Hoping to add another pair of sunglasses soon.

I find it difficult to find sunglasses for me too, I have a big oval face and sometimes sunglasses are too small. I personally like the big ones that I like to call “fly sunglasses” because they make me look like a fly but I like them, I think they fit my face shape and size really well. I really love your blazer as well, white outerwear pieces are my favourite during the spring, they look fresh while still keeping us warm.
