Friday with Friends and Some Summer Outfit Inspiration

Summer is right around the corner, and it already feels like it in this neck of the woods. I want to introduce you to a blogger friend, Tania, of 50 is not Old today. I am telling you, it is not! I always feel like, you are as old as you feel! ( there are some morning I wake up feeling like i’m 80) Tania is a Southern gal, who loves fashion and loves to talk about life and living in the mountains. She loves fashion and loves to share her finds!

Friday with Friends

Tania, grew up in Tennessee and lives currently with her hubby, who officially calls her fashion sense, ‘Classy with a Little Trashy” which she equates to a Marilyn Monroe, or classy and trendy style. Reading her blog, is like sitting with a friend, she is relatable and mixes =high and low fashion. I love to do the same. She, like myself, tends to go for quality handbags, and then saves the money when buying clothing for the blog. We both agree that you don’t have to spend a fortune to look great!

I also love that she brings her life and hubby into her blog as I do. I have to talk about my hubby and my two puppies, as they are my family!

I’d love for you to visit Tania, as we have lots in common- both Southern gals who love family and who have a passion for fashion!

I am also sharing some of my previous summer looks for us to get in the mood for the summer season! What do you think of when you think of summer? Also, if you enjoyed learning a bit about other bloggers, you can check out the series called, “Spotlight On: Over 40” on the home page of this blog. Back to the things that represent summer to us-

Bathing suits?

Cool and Fruity cocktails- Made this homemade Sangria with Mom ( so easy!)

The Beach

Fruit and More Fruit, I LOVE watermelon!

Music and Food trucks

Long days

Dining Al Fresco

The pool and reading poolside.

These are all things I love about summer. I do want to share some of the colorful summer outfits I have worn in the past and look forward to sharing some new summer styles. I have fallen hard for yellows and mustards this season, along with neutrals and spicy tones.

Jumpsuits-

I’ll admit, I have 2 jumpsuits to my name and 1 jumper. Part of the problem with me and jumpsuits are that I need length. I have a long body, so if the size is right, but it is too short, I get the dreaded “wedgie”. No fun! So, I found this dolman sleeve steel blue floral on Zara last year and loved the pattern. The wide legs and shorter length also help any issuess with it being too short.

Safari Print Dress

Another pattern from Safari prints in 2017, I styled this dress with an olive bag and low heeled sandals. This Zara print is no longer available, but see? The safari and tropical print is still going strong in 2019!

Great Travel Dress- Karina dress

Here is a summer outfit I wrote about in 2017, and one I would wear to the beach with it’s blue and green tones.

Post- What to Wear to the Beach

Another big trend this year as the past several years, are shirt dresses. This one by Soft Surroundings, last year was one I loved because of the floral pattern and turqouise blue color. See, there is blue in my wardrobe 🙂

White hot looks

Back in the Summer of ’15, I wore a dress that is an all white lace dress I bought from Poshmark/Mango. I loved the light style and the shift style of dress. I have always been a fan of all white looks, as it is crisp, clean and fresh for summer, not to mention cool as long as you are wearing cool fabrics. ( ie. cotton, linen, etc)

In case you missed my post with the eyelet scalloped blouse from Mango and white jean shorts, read it here for another white look.

The Maxi Dress

Another summer look I enjoy wearing is the maxi dress. Nothing like a one and done outfit. Wear a maxi, add jewelry and then some espadrilles or slides, and you have an easy put together outfit for these hot summer days!

This post in 2016, talked about the statement necklace I am wearing with this favorite maxi dress.

So much goodness here! Loving these looks! I had to laugh when I saw watermelon on your list. My husband bought this giant one after I told him we could never eat that much and because it was the same price no matter the size we are eating almost nothing but watermelon! Have a great weekend!
    Peace!

Haha, you made me laugh. I eat a whole watermellon too! I love it, I’ll cut the watermellon in chunks and love the cold treat in the summer! Glad you like the outfits! xx

Hi. Visiting from 50 is not Old. I love your outfits you’ve shown today and I’m not one to like florals but these are so pretty. If only I was as tall as you are. At 5’3” it’s not always easy to find maxi dresses that fit and don’t have to be hemmed. But they are one of my favorites so I always get at least 1-2 new ones in summer as they are my go-tos for comfort and coolness. Enjoyed your post and I’ll stop back by.

      Hi Johnna!
So glad you stopped by! I love a pretty maxi dress and you can’t beat them for easy outfits! I am big on dresses in the summer as I love the ease of a dress. I do love florals, but usually choose larger floral prints. xx

I love jumpsuits! My problem with them is that because I have a more pear-shaped body, they either run big on top or small on bottom and it’s hard to find one that fits right everywhere. And I love white as well, it looks fresh and crisp and it’s my absolute favourite in the summer.

Hi Jess. I popped over from Tania’s blog. So glad I did. Loved all your looks. I am a southern girl also (Georgia) and have a 12 year old shih tzu, Charlie. He is my shadow. Just because us girls have a little mileage on us doesn’t mean we can’t look nice and fashionable. Have a great weekend and you have a new subscriber.
