First, that it is officially summer.  Fall certainly is my favorite season, but I have enjoyed summer, especially last year, when we would spend days on “the lazy river”. What I affectionately call my brother and sis-in-laws pool, as we all seem to have a floaty to ourselves! Lounging in a pool floaty and enjoying the day is quintessential summer. I bought a giant 2 person swan years ago and finally put it to use.

I love the eating out, the family times, the trips, the pace. Longer nights. Outdoor concerts.

Don’t get me wrong, sweating profusely is not a love of mine, but I have created a summer wardrobe for the South. I am sure you are now aware of just how much “linen crazy” I went this year.  Looking on-line and Poshmark, I’ve found some wonderful linen pieces to mix and match with your current wardrobe. The relaxed vibe, with a structured look is really appealing to me, with linen suits that you can put together on a budget.

Paperbag shorts that come higher on the waist are quite flattering, if you are one to wear shorts.

This high rise linen-cotton pant is tailored and beautful. It also comes in a multitude of colors.

Third, I just bought a few books for some summer reading. I’ll have to keep you posted on what I think more into the books.

Wrong Place, Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister is a thriller with some twists and turns. Only pages in, I am loving the concept of how do you stop a murder after it’s already happened?

Paddleboarding–

I mentioned to you that I had set a goal, among three or four, that I would be able to paddleboard this summer, when just last August, Pudendal Neuralgia reared its head. By sticking to my PT exercises, and being motivated to be out on the water, I did just that a few weeks ago. I am sure I mentioned that we have an electric pump which inflates the board in about 10-15 minutes, and I am told to be on the paddleboard for about 20, but it is a goal. It doesn’t mean I will forever stay at 20 minutes, but slowly add increments. It was such a good feeling of doing something I didn’t think I would be able to do right now. It is such a “peaceful, easy feeling” being out there.

Smoked Salmon – Oh, my hubby makes such a great smoked salmon for picnics and get togethers, or just if we want it for a meal outside on the deck. A few Christmas’ ago, I bought him THIS ONE.

It’s a great price and you don’t have to have one of the large smokers, this box goes on top of the grill.

The recipe he uses includes a brown sugar and brandy rub! HERE it is, if you’d like to try ti! I know I mentioned this, but I could eat seafood every day!
