18 Dec Turning Heads Linkup – Glam Holiday Look with Soft Surroundings

Christmas Time is here… happiness and cheer….always one of my favorite tunes, one that I would select to sing with my elementary choir too. This Friday, we leave for my moms, a 9 hour road trip, but so worth it to see my whole family. I’ll share with you our time on the blog later, as I think about what to wear for the Holidays as well.

I.can’t resist faux fur. The feeling, the memory of grandma wearing it, the vintage style really appeals to me. When Soft Surroundings had me choose from the Winter Collection, I decided to create a glamorous Holiday look with a blush faux fur stole, a charcoal sweater dress with a drop waist ( Another drop waist dress I styled from Soft Surroundings) some bling, and some fashion forward mesh booties..

Holiday Happenings

This Saturday evening  I was resting in bed watching an episode of Get Shorty, when I heard a loud knock on the door. It was late, what did someone want? Well, we won 2nd place in our Development for our outdoor Christmas Decorations! We won a $50 gift card to Lowes! It was fun as my hubby put alot of work into the lights this year! I’ve been loving our mornings coffee brewing, Christmas Tree lit, the fire glowing. It is a pretty nice atmosphere to do my blog work!

One more week until Christmas! We leave on the 23rd – my sister, niece, hubby, me and the dogs to head to my Moms for the week. I am looking forward to the celebrations!

Soft Surroundings

By now, my readers know I am a BIG fan of Soft Surroundings. I love that their items range in softness from 1-3, 3 being the softest. This blush colored faux fur piece is rated a 3 in softness. Faux fur added as a stole to dresses, to coats, or sweaters add an extra special touch to your look. It looked so good that my girl, Truffles wanted to lay on it, as I got it out to get dressed for the shoot.

My Outfit

My eyes were fixated on these fashion forward mesh booties., called The Neely. The style was unique and I saw myself styling them with out socks, and be able to see the mesh sides, and with lace or patterned ankle socks. I bought the lace socks from Amazon, and pictured wearing them with the booties, giving them a new look… so changing out the socks for fish nets would be another look.. they are going to be so fun to wear! I love the double piped suede trim and the mesh at the sides. Brings out even more the fashionista in me!

I absolutely love a sweater dress. You have seen me style a lighter grey structured sweater dress from Soft Surroundings HERE, in this post. Today I chose the dark charcoal turtleneck sweater dress, and loved the pleated drop waist style. So comfortable and easy to wear. also a great piece to layer with jackets, vests, blazers. I loved the combo of dark grey with the luxurious blush fur wrap.

The blush stole, which is lined in satin and has a hook and eye closure, reminded me of vintage glam that I love. Now, if I could get Veronica Lake curls/waves I would be set!

I wanted some “bling” and I added this Zara ( thrifted ) black jeweled necklace and my vintage silver pearl earrings. My black clutch from JJ Winters ( Ebay) added a bit of texture to the look as well.

If I wanted to change it up a bit for the Holidays, I would add some silver sparkly necklace or earrings, as silver and grey are a favorite combination. Instead of patterned socks, I could wear patterned tights to give a different look to the boots and for warmth! 🙂 Pearls are always special, and a layered pearl necklace would have looked lovely as well.

I did have a silver brooch attaching the fur to the dress, but it pin broke on the way to the shoot! Note to self- keep spare brooch in handbag. 🙂
