Turning Heads Linkup – Plaid Blazer with Jeans

Morning friends

If you usually wear a sweater with jeans and that is your winter uniform, try adding a plaid blazer for some extra oomph. I am a blazer kinda girl and just adding that 3rd piece amplifies your look. If you are still looking for Valentine’s looks, read yesterday’s post- Valentine’s Day the Casual Way.  I am wearing red roses on my booties today, so that should count! 🙂

First, I want to thank you for the well wishes while I am titrating down on pain medication. It has been a trying time and at times I questioned whether I should do this or not. The reality is, with pain meds, you build a tolerance and an increase in pain sensitivity. I really is possible to go down on the medication and still feel the same level of pain over time. Anyhoo, it took about 2 weeks for me to “balance out” and not feel all of the withdrawal. I have a way to go, but I appreciate your care and support.

Since I have posted 3 looks for Valentine’s Day, read the posts here-Valentine’s Day The Casual Way

Leopard and Red

Red and Burgundy

Maybe that will give you some ideas! 🙂

I was ready for a change and this week it called for denim. I love my AG jeans, but my second favorite is my Old Navy Rockstars which I wear often. Yesterday I wore them in grey, today ina darker wash. This exact plaid blazer I bought at H&M, is not available anymore, but I linked similar ones.

Happenings

We celebrated my sister’s birthday over the weekend and I bought a white chocolate curl cake with white cake and banana cream.. oh yeah! We have a great bakery nearby that my husband lives for!

How about the Oscars? I wasn’t able to watch it, but I did catch who won the day after, all well deserved! It was funny as that afternoon we thought about going to see “Parasite”, but I wasn’t up to it.. and it wins Big Picture! I often love indies and foreign films over blockbusters. But- Glad to see Brad Pitt won as Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was a creative and fun movie, along with Josquin Pheonix winning for The Joker.I’m always amazed at actors that transform and drop bodyweight for a roll. Does anyone see The Machinist with Christian Bale? yeah….

I just had to add this gold leaf brooch! 🙂

Outfit

I wore this blazer in the post – Plaid Suiting – Ways to Wear

Now its time to wear the pieces seperately.

Roses are red , violets are blue…

Such an attractive look, Jess! (Honestly though, you could wear a paper bag and would still be cute.) I agree, blazers can take an outfit up a notch. Lovely purse too!

Plaid blazers are a closet staple in my book–love the way you styled yours. I hope you feel better soon! I can barely take pain meds, they always make me feel so sick (and worse!)

Yes, I love them and would consider adding more of a camel colored one or grey next year. I appreciate the well wishes. Its a slow process titrating.

You should definitely see Parasite—it’s so good! You don’t even have to go to the theater–you can stream it on Amazon or Itunes!

I just love that jacket! I have been on a bit of a blazer kick lately but sometimes buy them and then don’t quite know how to wear them. I’m so sorry you are having to wean off the pain meds friend….but even more sorry that you have the pain to begin with. Sending sweet prayers. Thank you so much for the feature Jess!

Thanks so much Shelly! It is hard to explain, but pain meds can increase your sensitivity to pain, so in turn, after being on them for 8 years, I may feel the same off or a lower dosage. I appreciate it. I love blazers too!

You are so right Jess about adding a blazer to change up a denim look. You are rockin’ the jeans lady! Thinking about that cake about made me fall out of my chair. OMG Good! I didn’t see that Brad Pitt movie I will put it on my list.

    Peace!

Very stylish blazer Jess, and I love the leaf brooch. It was seeing your lovely brooches that prompted me to start wearing them too, and now I often get people commenting on them! Your boots are fabulous and so unusual. I hope you start to feel better soon. Thanks for linking up!

    Hi Jess!

I posted a blazer today as well! I love your look and you always add the best details to make your outfit more interesting. We watched as much of the Academy Awards as we could before getting sleepy so didn’t see to the end. I do want to see Once Upon A Time In Hollywood now, even though my daughter says I won’t like the end. Hope you’re well! Happy Tuesday!

    Jess,
I love your classic blazer with jeans!
I did see the Oscars and was surprised that Parasite took home best picture and best director.
I saw it on my flight last week and I wasn’t impressed with that being the best movie of 2019.
I thought 1917 was much better. But I didn’t vote.

    Hugs,
    Robin

I love a blazer and jeans outfit, this looks so good on you! 🙂

I don’t watch a lot of movies – it’s hard to find the time with the kids, if I wait until they are in bed I never have the energy to stay up for a movie, haha! But we do watch a Disney one with them on a Saturday night, our movie night, hehe! 🙂

    Thanks for the link up!

Hope you’re having a great start to your week so far 🙂
