10 Spring Staples for Your Closet

Happy Friday friends!

As I went through my closet transferring my Winter/Fall clothes to a the guest closet ( we hope to get a closet organizer and work on more space) I took my spring clothes out , and began to clean out the closet. What did I need to get rid of? Do I love it? I decided that my clothes and shoes that i wouldn’t wear would be sent to Goodwill and the Battered Women’s Shelter  downtown. Do you evaluate your closet each season? Do you have the staples that makes putting outfits together easier? Here are some items that every lady should have in their closet.

I will tell you, standing for longer periods is tough with EDS. My clothes are outgrowing my closet, so, in the meantime, I use the guest closet to keep clothing from opposite seasons. The other day I transferred all of my fall winter clothes to the guest room, while moving this season’s to my closet. I cleaned up my shoe area and have started to keep shoes in shoe boxes ( until I get shoe shelves…) Doing this took a fair amount of time and standing. Since I have hypermobility, trying to keep my body in one position for too long, leaves me very sore the next day.. Do I learn? Noooo. My hubby says i am terrible at taking breaks when I work on things, and i can attest to my desire to just ‘get things done’!

I am looking forward to the weekend, are you? We watched some of the Awards show and I had been wanting to see, “The Shape of Water”.. so that is in the plans for the weekend. I am also getting my hair done, my stylist is coming over and helping me disguise my white/grey hair and bring it back to life!

Moving on.. I have been conservative with my shopping over this year, adding pieces that I LOVE and could mix and match with current items in my closet. What are some things I should have that make getting dressed in the morning easier..

A Moto jacket– I admit, I am a bit of a moto ‘junkie”.. it stems from the climate here in Charlotte and my love for them making anything I wear look, that much “cooler’. Moto jackets are a great staple for the Spring too, as they are versatile, wearing them with anything from jeans to floral dresses. I will be doing a post on buying moto jackets in the future. Try a pretty pastel shade instead of a traditional black or brown.

White tee shirt  to wear under fitted jackets for a fun stylish look, the white tee is great for layering year round, and can be paired with anything from cargos to denim to pleated skirts. Add some statement jewelry to amplify this look. Plain white or graphic tees

Denim- I will soon be writing a post on some of my favorite denim. I specifically look for soft material due to leg sensitivity. Wit and Wisdom ( Nordstrom) and Old Navy Rockstar make the softest I tried in a while. LOFT has some great Boyfriend jeans, like I am wearing in this post.

Denim Skirt- it took me some time to find this skirt, but this is one of my favorites. Just as versatile as jeans, a great denim skirt is a staple to keep you cool and can pair with anything. I love this knee length style with buttons, the A-line style is very flattering on all figures.

Black Sandals

Nude sandals or Pumps- Who doesn’t love a pair of nude sandals or pumps to take you through the Spring months.

Light colored bag ( for Spring) I LOVE this round bag by Brahmin... will keep it on my wish list! Straw bags are very trendy as well this Spring and summer. My bag was bought on Ebay. it is Kate Spade.

White jeans- White jeans are a great staple for year round, but these jeans look great with neutrals and bold colors. Mine are Ann Taylor. If you aren’t a white jean wearer, there are some lovely white trousers out there.

Fashion Sneakers I love slip ons, but also have the classic white leather sneaker that will go with everything. Pair with denim or wear with your favorite t-shirt dress! these are among my favs, these floral ones by Sam Edelman.

Something Floral. I have this covered 10 fold! From dresses to blouses to flats, nothing says Spring like florals!

A few other things I have on my wish list is white tops and dresses. I love the look of white in the Spring/Summer. A colorful light scarf is always a pretty accessory as well.

Do you have most of these staples for Spring? What others might you be looking for to add to your closet?

Have a great weekend!

Jess xo

My seasonal clothing game could definitely use some help. This is a great post! I am pinning for next year, as Spring is nearly upon us, and I will need to do some shopping. I don’t know if I own many of the things on the list. Definitely thinking about making myself a pretty light colored purse though.

Fabulous look Jess ! I love all of your “staples” , all super chic and beautifully styled! I especially love the photo of you wearing the boyfriend jeans and black blazer. Those red shoes add so much drama! I think I have the staples pretty well covered but do find this post very inspirational.

      Thank you Robin,
I think I will buy the bag as my main Spring bag, in a few months. I know what you mean, I am anxious to wear spring clothes and have done of bit of wearing on the blog, but it has been quite windy and chilly here in NC! Have a great weekend! xx

Your Spring looks are all so pretty and elegant! I wish I had an extra closet but that’s not the case and mine is so small. On top of that we don’t really have seasons so my clothes all pretty much stay in the same place – crowded!!! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Kellyann, the extra closet is very small.. but it is something! One of these days… I think I would love if all of mine were in the same place as it is tiring to do this each season! I know what you about crowded ! Enjoy your weekend as well! xx
